Does anyone else get like 3 minute solo queues? Worst matchmaking system I've experienced in years.

It's not the length of time, it's the ridiculously unfair matchups. My pre-matches seemed fine, went 5-5. But ever since coming out of that, it's been a slaughter every time, regardless of how close the Team Avg is.

No point in playing competitive unless playing on an organized Team.

I think that's supposed to be the point of it. It's not for me.

I had the same experience. Went 9-1 in placement matches, ranked 61 but over the course of 2 days and 8 matches I'm now sitting at 52. The drastic drop after a loss, no matter how close or well you did vs. your team, is deflating.

I jump into a quick play and destroy people again, just seems like something is off.

I love comp. play.

I went 5-5, got 51. I'm sitting at 54 right now.

I honestly do not care about my rank, I just love playing with people who are trying to win.

I got stuck in a shite tier thanks to quitters during my placement matches and now no one knows how to fricking play this game in my rank range. It's insane how terrible people are. They still don't push objectives and they still all pick DPS or snipers when we need support and tanks. I don't mind being support. I actually love playing Lucio and Mercy, but when I'm a healer and we have one tank and then 4 Reapers while attacking on Anubjs I want to punch babies.

This is why I refuse to play this game solo

I've been trying to grind up to 25 all day today. Got up to 23. I'm looking forward to likely getting my arse rocked in competitive.

Went 4-2 tonight. Started off 0-2.

Resigned to playing healer or tank because everyone else is going to run Reaper or 76. Just fricking amazing how solo's don't give a frick about team builds.

This is what I was hoping Competitive Mode would be about, but people can just be downright dumb.

Like the last game of Comp I played (not touching it for at least 3 weeks until things balance out), as Reinhardt - since no one would go tank - no matter how much attention I can get focused on me, or how many Bastion's I can charge into oblivion, it seems like my team is nowhere to be found. Just a bunch of Hanzo's standing behind walls until they can get dragon up.

That, and people have started to pinpoint super combos. Defense teams of 3 76's, or a Mercy+Roadhog well coordinated makes any attack difficult.

Somehow Quick Play teams are better, more balanced and still have more people gunning to win.

So question: Favorite Map+Hero setup?

I think I'm damn near 100% Victory on Attacking side in Watchpoint:Gibraltar as Winston. That map just sets up perfectly for him and I've cleared out spawn campers in no time just jumping from bridge to bridge. Then, later on when you're in the Warehouse, those halls become insane places to Ult up and bash everyone. He's tons of fun Attacking on that map.

2nd would be my Attacking run on King's Row. Torbjorn out of the gate to lockdown areas. It's a near exploit since you are so close to the Capture point that runs/speed don't matter. Own the opening of that theater that looks out onto the point and set up a turret. From there, a couple of ults later and you'll have the point as long as your team is average. Then I switch out for an area of need - Mostly a tank or off tank so Reinhardt or Zarya.

3rd - Symmetra in Hollywood. She's devastating defending that map. Great place for a teleporter plus nice setups for turrets.

Torbjorn

I can't wait until this bastard is nerfed.

I played three 'defend' the payload missions where I chose him and out of those three games I had 58 kills and zero deaths.

And if someone on my team or myself doesn't use him or Bastion on defend missions then I feel as though we almost always lose.

Competitive mode has been a mixed bag.

PUGing it is pretty rough. You'll have matches where you dominate, then matches where you get reamed.

A few flaws:

* Almost no exp if you dominate a round and then someone on the other team disconnects.

* Greater penalty for a loss than reward for a win (at least in my experience it seems)

* Bug where when someone leaves it says you can leave without penalty - but you actually still get penalized. In other words, if someone leaves a game, you're screwed over no matter which side you're on.

* Those stupid hints on the right - especially the one about snipers. Ugh, who cares if you don't have a sniper on attack. Unless you're magnificent with Widowmaker or Hanzo, just... just don't.

I feel you on the tank problems and everyone hanging back. We were on the Temple point in Nepal in Comp the other day and it was me as Lucio, a Reind, and then 2 Torbs and 2 Hanzos that never pushed the point. Ever. Things like that make me hate this game.

As for auto wins - I default pick Symmetra on defense on Hollywood, King's Row, and that Brazil map (Dorado?). I feel like she's better than a healer on those maps and I end up with a 80-90% win ratio. They have perfect places for Turrets and I can safely duck in and out of cover to use my gun without too much risk of dying. She's a beast on those maps.

Also, Lucio on Lijiang Tower and Nepal is beastly, as well. The points where you can knock people off are so much fun that I pick him even if someone else does because two Lucio's on those areas is OP.

I'm still gonna play Comp to earn Comp Points, but it needs some serious tweaking.

They severely over-penalize a loss. Every. Time. The gains and losses of XP should be comparable. If that other team is going to get reduced XP for beating a short-handed team, then why the frick wouldn't we lose less XP for that loss? It makes no sense.

That's not a bug. That message means you won't accumulate the "leaver's penalty" that builds up every time you quit out of a match and can eventually get you banned from Comp for the season. It's misleading, but you still get a loss and XP hit.

Its so weird that on the PC I've seen very few Reapers. We're starting to see more and more multi tank comps and with the Mcree nerf Reaper is the only reliable tank buster.
I love cutting through Winston like a hot knife through butter.

A REALLY good Tracer can wreck a tank, but the player has to be seriously on point (her rapid fire shots, if hitting the head hitbox, can destroy most anyone).

My preferred character for DPS right now is Pharah. I've gotten pretty good with her accuracy, which is critical - too many players rely on her splash damage, and therefor do jack-squat in the long run.

She's really good at getting around shields and destroying Bastions. Her anti, though, is probably 76. He's a good Pharah killer.

Yea a good tracer can do some good damage on tanks but they've got to be extra careful because they die to stiff wind. Reapers can go toe to toe with every tank and chew through them.

I'm bouncing around from hero to hero depending on what comp I'm playing against. Tracer and Soldier 76 are my two best heroes but I'm pretty good with Reaper, Hanzo, Roadhog and Luccio. The only heroes that I'm just plain bad with are Zarya and Mercy. I just don't possess the mindset to play either of them.

I freaking hate Tracer's, partly because I suck when I use her

Probably my most played character is Roadhog. He's pretty good for any map or situation. When I'm playing with my group of friends we'll usually pair him up with a Reinhardt or we'll go double Roadhogs.

You'd be shocked how pissed people get when they're getting chained left and right.
