Golbats are one of the hardest to capture due to their dodge animation and frequency
I'm terrible at catching even the low CP zubats. They make me feel stupid.
edit: Thanks for posting that battle chart. I plan to do my first fighting tomorrow!

Just had a 503 Golduck take 2 berries and escape 4 great balls and run away. What's the fricking point?

Berries and great balls do not guarantee anything, especially when trying to capture a wild pocket monster with a 500 CP! It's the chase that keeps your coming back, not the capture. ; )

Here's a tip I wish I knew.
When you are in battle... dodge and do normal attacks to build energy.
Then hold down on your pokemon to unleash your special attack.

That's what the blue bars under the 2nd attack mean. Charge it up in battle then unleash the pain

Ran across a CP 648 Dragonite, 577 Alakazam and 499 golduck tonight driving around. Didn't catch a goddamn single one.

This game just about ruined my Nintendoland idea: LINK
And then in the OT thread a lot of people thought the Pokemon concept would fail: LINK
Awesome ideas! The Mariokart idea was my favorite.

I've lost out on some good ones too but that just sounds like a run of bad luck; it happens. Tonight I spent nearly 15 great balls catching a 500+ Ivysaur. I was going to be so sad if I lost him, but losing out on some good ones is just part of the game and makes it even more of a challenge.

Was only able to take over one gym tonight. 1000cp everywhere and I just don't have that yet.
I only have 2 that are over 700cp

It's become damn near impossible to hold/defend a gym located in any populated area for any significant period of time. There are so many people playing this game that the gyms are constantly under attack and no matter how powerful of Pokemon or how many levels the gym is, the constant barrage of people attacking it will always bring it down.
I live within view of three gyms from my apartment and they basically change colors every 10 minutes all day long.
I basically have to get my pokemon into one gym, run to another one and try to get one into that one before the last one changes hands so I can get my 20 to 30 coins in rewards every day.

I had to take a break today. I physically couldn't do the hunting I've been doing the past few days. Even still, on a "break" day, I ended up wondering around downtown. Found out that my favorite coffee shop is right on top of two pokestops. Also finally caught a damn Staryu.

Alright baws..I know the secret for tracking that rare spawn 3 paws away.
Download Ingress. Make a new char. Open up the map.
Look for high clusters of XM. Those translate directly into pokemon go spawns.
Warning: this will make hunting pokemon WAY easier and may trivialize the game for you. You can get in your car or bike and go directly to where the XM cluster on ingress is. Won't be too many on the map at once. Your rare spawn in pogo will be at a cluster on ingress
I'm sure you all have figured out where the good pokemon go spawns are at around your residence...Ingress just visually shows it better

I'm in Phoenix for the week for work. I think I've caught just about every pokemon that is in this area. slowly trying to level up but only at level 8.

This game has had the best stories of any game I've ever seen in my life
. Here's what my parents told me today: They were at a farmer's market and they said a kid came walking fast towards them on his phone and was like "Y'all haven't seen a Pikachu or Squirtle around here have u?"
. My dad was clueless and just looked at him crazy and another guy told my dad "I almost told him I saw one jump in that river over there"
. They had no clue what it was but then my mom knew so she spoke up and told them. I think I've had just as much fun hearing the stories than I've had playing the game.

I was downtown and I heard two old ladies bitching about "There's too many kids outside now."
fricking old people.
