Should be able to click the white capsule looking box on top of the spinning logo. Then attach a lure from the screen that pops up on the bottom

How do you take a gym?

I just fought a Pinser and whooped his arse but had no idea I had to fight 4 other Pokemon as well. A CP 800 Snorlax showed up and went in dry.

Shouldn't I get to take the bottom Pokemons spot because I beat him?

In order to overthrow the leader of a gym, You need to beat all the pokemon there with your team

You can only take a spot without fighting if your color team owns the gym. If you go to a gym your team owns you can "train" which is a 1v1 fight

Scroll to the right when looking at the gym to see what pokemon are guarding it

I went to a gym today and there were only 2 pokemon in it. The only option it gave me was to fight and it was the same color as my team. How do I automatically take one of the vacant spots without fighting?

There should be a white button to click on either the bottom left or right, when you are in the gym range and looking at the lineup, to let you leave a defender there.

I think the gym may need "prestige" in order to allow more defenders. That is the number at the top..something like 4000/8000 gym lvl 2.

Train at the gym to raise prestige I think. Not entirely sure on that but it's something related I bet

Is there a separate button to train? I've only been to a gym a couple of times and the only things I see is the option to fight

I believe you train/fight the defenders. if you win you raise the gyms prestige. after you max the prestige out for the gym's level, it levels up. allowing you to place one of your own pokemon to defend the new level.

Fight and train are the same thing at a friendly gym.

This is correct. Say you're at a level 1 gym of your own color. And it needs 1000 prestige points to get to level 2. Well let's say you beat that gym in training and it gains +500 points. Well you'll have to do it again and then when it gets to level 2, then two Pokemon can sit on it so you can add yours. And if there's one already at 2 (or 3 or 4 and so on) if there's an empty slot you can just add your Pokemon to the defense.

Conversely, this is the same except opposite when you're fighting an opposing gym. You have to reduce their prestige down to nothing and fight the number of Pokemon that are on defending it; obviously the higher the level the gym the more defenders it may have.

This is how I understand it anyway.

Went and trained at a friendly gym with my snorlax.

If I beat 1 I raised the gym by 100 prestige

If I beat 2 I raised it by 256 prestige

I had to use potions to restore hp in between battles

Dodging enemy attacks is important.

The gym is curreny 5600/8000 prestige. I imagine if I am right there when it goes 8000 then I can place a defender.

Rememeber...defending a gym for 21 hours nets you 10 coins..worth roughly ten cents $

Blue team 4 life

What level Chinpokomon should I be finding now? Best I've seen is a 104 Eevee.

Bout right. Try to visit pokestops and collect Pokéballs and eggs.

Put eggs in incubators and walk around. Driving won't work.

Evolve as many pidgeys and ratatas and noob pokemon as you can. Save your stardust for now. Don't use it on anything

Welcome back

Yea it gives your trainer xp.

The higher level your trainer the higher cp pokemon you can catch.
