That's the draw of this game, what's going on is what you are doing at the moment, if you want follow a little direction to help you do some quest, the ones in your journal "j" that are not under the misc label are ones that are "important" to the main goals of the game.

Yeah, this game is different than the other Elder Scrolls games with how to build characters. I hope you are enjoying whatever race you picked, since that ain't changing any time. But yeah, there's no classes, so just do the sh*t you enjoy the most. Me personally, I've lockpicked the bajesus out of some things and I love to just hold down L1 and walk backwards as I burn/freeze the crap out of an enemy. So... my destruction and lock pick skills have increased tremendously. That and my smithing skills... Probably because I'm finding shiz like iron ingots and whatnot randomly and they sell for more if I make some sort of armor out of them. Anyway, I guess the point is, there is no real way to build a character in this game. This game, more than any other I've played, allows for organic development of characters. It's bizarre, I know.

So after my first day of playing:
-got slaughtered by a giant
-slaughtered by a gang of guys
-chases by giants
-walked for about 15 min to the first quest(golden claw) because I couldn't afford a horse.
-equipped a spell and did work
-stole all types of goodies from some old lady in a shack who enjoyed my company
-made it to the quest, got the golden claw, kept following the path, fought some "doruden" or something...continued on the path and a swinging spike "fence" hit me in the face and killed me nullifying all I had done in the cave. :facepalm:

Just don't abuse the save thing.
Roommates rape the shite out of it.
They would save before pickpocketing, and repeat as many times as needed to get the item.
One has twice the levels of anyone else because he would train up skills, and then pickpocket the gold back from the trainer in order to pay for more training.

Most of the time the auto save will keep you from losing too much. I only save before boss fight or trying something risky.
But it's good to hard save occasionally in case your screw something up and want to go back.

Oh ok, I just don't want to end up in the predicament in now again. Did you walk all the way to the end of the mountain and cut through the pass or what. Also when approaching the quest I had I jump all the way up the mountain piece by piece. Could not walk straight up.

frick that, I walked all the way to the greybeards, died 3 times, no big deal because i saved a bunch and it still took me an hour to walk there

Save abuse is something like what I brought up.
You HAVE to save often in a game like this, lest you get stuck on some bug.
