they will all begin getting attacked so unless you have the wood/steel etc to forify them, id agree to hold off.
I went back to greentop nursery and was greeted by 3 Radscorpions rampaging
wasn't a "notification" attack, just an event that occurred when I zoned in I suppose.

Don't talk to Garvey. He only sends you on 3 at most at a time. Don't pick up the XP by talking to him and he won't assign anymore....
UNTIL..... at some point you get the reward without talking to him and he can assign more tasks.

what did you do for so much XP? explore and sidequests? minutemen and settlement missions
A pile of settlement quests, some BOS quests. Tons of building. You get plenty of XP building settlements. I have 23 at the moment.
Also lots of cooking and chem making.
Also tons of random exploration and sidequests.

nice. Im upping my charisma to get my settlement/persuasion game on point.
haven't messed with cooking and chemistry due to lack of mats but ive done some. cooking is really important from what ive seen.
caps have been an afterthought but now that I need Fusion cells for my Righteous Authority, and Arturo sells them for a pretty penny, I have a need to acquire more

I initially went with a charisma & luck & intelligence build so I haven't needed to buy any ammo.
Pretty much pick everything up.
The cool thing about the game is that all of the junk is useful.
I was fired up when I finally used my points to increase the amount I could pick up.
Most of the time on a mission, I can pick EVERYTHING up and fill codsworth. I might start rolling all of the time with power armor for the extra weight.

Kill Sinths. They carry a ton of fusion cells.

This is another big reason why I wear it on every mission

I've got a little over 3000 fusion cells
Never use fusion weapons. Have given every one I get to my random settlers

I don't mind them. Cheap and easy XP, loot, and caps. Idiot savant helps you get a shot at triple XP. Pretty solid way to boost some of your companions' opinion of you.
ETA: Before someone blasts me for idiot savant, I'm 7 intel and getting it pretty frequently. Someone on reddit did a rundown and it basically came out that it is worth taking at least level 1 no matter what.

My idiot savant triggered when I completed a quest and got me 1300xp, plus the noise is kinda funny, so totally worth it.
I reached level 42 and finished out the pistol damage perks, I have an upgraded legendary pistol that does 198 damage plus 15pt explosive AOE, pretty much one shots all raiders on Survival.
Im pretty upset with survival, I thought it would make me eat and force me to drink water but the only difference is stimpaks take FOREVER to replenish health, but there are tons of legendary enemies.

I've got a legendary fusion pistol drop that is super accurate, does 165 and has about 6 or 7 Vats hits.
Wrecks most things unless they have resistance to energy weapons. It's my standard weapon unless I need to hit the Shotgun for resistances (scorpions, mirelurks).

So, joining the brotherhood provides some serious weapons and ammo. First mission gave me a combat double shot shotgun.
They kind of suck as a group though

Decided to move the story along. I reached level 39 last night and just got to Goodneighbor. Ive been very impressed with the game so far.
I'm still struggling to find a decent .38 rifle or pistol. I have over 2000 rounds of ammunition for it.
