Cycle thru to highest %chance body part.
Press right trigger on the body part
Then accept.
Depending on your build you can hit multiple spots with one vats rotation

feel kind of dumb for not figuring that out sooner, but honestly there isn't a lot of explaining on what certain things do, or I possibly missed it.

Yeah, VATS helps a lot in certain situations. Especially when you have a lot of enemies like a pack of ghouls all running at you.

Does ammo seem to get a little hard to come at times? Especially after using up ur stash in tough back to back firefights.

It took me forever to clear out corvega. I also hit a bug there that made my health drain so I had to go back and load a previous save at one point.
Is there a way to call a companion to you? I left codsworth outside so I could sneak and I'd like to just call him back.

can't call a companion to you
should of taken him in with you and told him to wait at the door you come in. after you leave corvega, or any other 'dungeon', he'll be by your side when you go through the last door.

You know, I'm level 30 and I've only encountered two deathclaws: the first one when helping Preston Garvey and the one at the Salem witchcraft museum. I feel like I'm doing it wrong.

Ya, I can't find Cait. That means I'm gonna have to level lockpicking more if I want to open master safes.
