I'm not super knowledgeable about this stuff, but I started wondering if memory was an issue because BF4 looks really good for me, but it stutters. I need to do a wipe/clean of my computer anyways (way overdue), but my wife is working on it so much I think she would freak if she thought I would lose everything.

Ok, I'm about 13-15 hours in. Made level 10 last night, and have happy settlers at Sanctuary and the co-op to the south.
I've wandered as far as Diamond City and the satellite array.
It's REALLY still hard to kill things, and I'm only playing on hard. Unlike others, I suit up in power armor damn near anytime I'm expecting alot of enemies just to survive (I have 3 suits), but I'm starting to run low on fusion cores. Another big change I've noticed is the success percentage on headshots in VATS is shite compared to previous games. I don't have enough ammo to waste shots at 40%-50%, so I've started knee capping ghouls and raiders unless they are right up on me. I think 55 is the highest damage gun i Have (hunters rifle), and it hardly puts a dent in anything except ghouls and raiders. Sentry bots? Mr. Handy? And most super mutants? Nope, nope, nope! I'm running. I even have 20% extra damage on both pistols and rifles.
I really think I'll need to spend the next few levels upping my SPECIAL ratings. The only special weapon I've found is a tire iron that refills your critical bar after killing an enemy. I'm in a BOS chest piece and girded leather limbs. Long grind coming tonight...

Do a quick save before you try to pick a lock. That way if you run out of Bobby pins you can just load your save and try again.

Can also quicksave in the middle of conversations. Usefull for when trying to persuade people.
And most importantly, there is a cover system in this game. I would advise using it.

Sure. When crouching up to a piece of cover, your weapon will drop from your view. At that point, hit LT (or whatever), and you will be aiming from behind that cover. Let go of aim, and you'll fall back to cover.
ETA: Well, it's certainly not Gears of War or anything, but it keeps the machine gun fire off of you better than peeking out on your own.

Im not a huge on graphics, but its been like 7 years since fallout 3 and they look the same.
I'm not a graphics guy. I loved Borderlands. I just play Mass Effect 1-3 this year and loved them.
However, given that Skyrim blew people away and then really blew people away with the high texture mods, I think some people were expecting more.
And Gardoki, I guess I am spoiled in the last year but DAI, Witcher 3, Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect 1-3 all had exceptional writing and voice acting. Well, maybe not Geralt, he got annoying at times.
