What level is recommended before taking on dragons?

I've got my arse whooped every time I've tried to take the one in the Hinterlands out so I've stayed away from them for a while

I got my first at like level 13-14. The one in Crestwood is the easiest. Be best to go at her then the one in the Hinterlands.

Hinterlands Dragon may have the lowest HP but he sure is a pain in the arse.

On both normal and hard, he was tough because he flies away like a bitch so often.

I'm not looking forward to that jack wagon on Nightmare.

Nightmare has been fun. Everything is hard. Those simple roving mobs are now a real pain in the arse but they supply some good craft items.

Just hit level 8 so I am feeling like a badass.

Actually did a good job killing the 3 great bears.

I don't have much left to do in the Hinterlands other than the 3 lvl 12 rifts which I can't touch.

Off to Storm Coast soon.

The knight enchanter specialization is just broken. I'm pretty sure you could solo the game just as the knight enchanter.

Getting my arse kicked on nightmare.

I went through Hinterlands and Storm Coast with not much of a problem.

One mage took 10 minutes to kill in Storm Coast.

I had to stop the Mire. Finished about half of it and had to stop. Didn't come close to being able to kill the 3rd beacon.

Switched to the main quest and got destroyed over and over and over trying to move the last trebuchet.

Alternated back to the mages.

First play did mages, second templars and this one back to mages.

I'm level 11 and I've crafted equipment far better than anything I've found but I am still getting crushed.

Mages Haven fight is much harder than templars I find. On NM I raced thru the haven stuff to get to Skyhold by level 9. I doubt I could have done it if I had picked mages though.

I just hit level 20 and went over to give the Storm Coast dragon a try and found him to be really easy. Killed him in about 3 or 4 minutes and only used 2 restoration potions each. I positioned my group together and popped a fully upgraded restoration potion and out healed the dragons damage. Helps that all my stuff has barrier damage stacked.

Did the Oasis to try and level up a little more but until you do the Skyhold quest, the roving mobs aren't there.

So I did the whole Oasis without much XP. I used my shards on fire and spirit which did make me strong enough to kill the 3rd beacon in the mire, but the 4th just destroys me. I'm not doing enough damage.

Might lose one of the shield tanks and add Bull for damage.

Do rings stack? I mean the same ring.

So double immolate rings? Do they stack?

I guess I can check the ability page. Haven't ever paif much attention to it. Might be able to figure it out there.

I did read that using fade touched obsidian 2 times doesn't stack. So putting one in a weapon and then one in a piece of armor doesn't stack.

Which is what got me thinking about rings stacking.

They do stack but rings are pretty buggy. They will cut out for no reason. Here is a pretty good (read LONG) writeup about the ring mechanics.
