Necromancer baw. I had to hunt down nevarran skulls in the storm coast. None of which were marked on the map, fun times

I seem to be getting my arse kicked a lot. I'm a hands-on hack-n-slasher and that style is definitely not meant for this game. I don't really understand the RTS battle camera thing.

With that style of character, you're going to get your arse kicked until you learn to use the tac view. The AI isn't smart enough to establish a perimeter around the battle with your mages and archers while allowing the tanks to do the grunt work.

As Duorden said, set your tactics to preferred/enabled/disabled for each character. Make sure barrier is a preferred skill for anyone who can cast it. Disable certain spells depending on the battlefield/area.

Use the tac cam to establish a perimeter with your mages/archers. The wheel with your healing potions has a "move to" icon. Use it at the begining of a fight, and make sure to double click the location so they will hold.

And lastly, USE COMBOS. Paralyze/Frozen/Stunned -> Mighty blow/longshot/stonefist, etc....

Get a status effect on an enemy before hitting them with the hard stuff. For example, the beginning of most fights with me is 1)Barrier for all 4 members. 2)Winters grasp form Solas to the strongest enemy (if not immune). 3) Mighty blow or shield bash from Cassandra/Blackwell/Iron bull. 4) Warrior(s) concentrate on the leader while my perimeter players take out the minions.

Wash, rinse, repeat. You can do the same with any status effect and big hit.

You can get by without having to use the tac cam too much if you have casters who focus on barriers first. A barrier + guard gives me plenty of time to handle groups.

I agree, but it just drives me nuts when Solas and/or Varric runs into the middle of a melee with his long range weapon.

Dammit Solas, know your role!

just dropping in to say... best game I've played in a long time. If you're still sitting on the fence after reading this thread, don't.

So I'm level 15, should I be killing some dragons now? If so, is the Hinterlands dragon the easiest to start with?

I was trying to figure out how to get to Redcliffe, and apparently went the wrong way. I see a bunch of shite burning and WHOOSH fireball goes flying over my head. Wrong way, sorry dragon bro.

Hinterlands lands behind the area where you first see him. If you dodge his fireballs long enough he'll land back further and you can explore that area.

Ah, thanks.

Freaking level 18 and still have sooooo much to do:

-select a discipline
-Figure out wtf is going on in hissing wastes and with the venatori
-storm some red Templar keep in emprise
-deal with these giants in emerald graves
-finally kill a dragon

And new operations are still appearing on the table. Sitting on 140 power and 11 influence

Anyone done the Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts mission? Such a long mission but worth it in the end.

As you're coming out of the cave into the dragons area, literally run straight across the field and there will be another cave and smaller area where he will be waiting on you.

You don't even need to waste time with the little ones. Tell your crew to disengage and just run right past them.

Really? You actually used the rowboat to get to his lair?

Yeah.. after completing some operation from the table and clearing some keep .. you find a rowboat and can row to an island occupied by a named dragon

Same genre.

3rd person instead of first. Slightly better combat system. Much prettier for console, but that's not really fair b/c last gen VS next gen. MUCH better dialogue and characters!

Skyrim had better skill trees, better crafting mechanics, better weapons, probably a slightly larger and more "open" world, and so far a better beastiary.

Both are fantastic.
