Ok. First time I've been truly pissed at this game.
I grinded for several hours last night in preparation for a fight with the hinterlands frostback Dragon, and I start fighting him at about 1:45 last night.
About 2:30 I had that fricker reeling. He was down to his last few hundred hp's and flys up to the top of a hill to scream and summon some little dragons. My crew starts chasing him up the hill...and the game bugs out when my character suddenly launches into the sky and starts falling, and falling...and falling. I switch to another team member in hopes of recovering just in time to see my Dragon land back on the battlefield. Bum rush his arse to finish him off...and his health is restored. NOOOO! I have no potions left, no fire resistance tonic left...and no fricking chance. I die at 3:00.
FML! frick him, frick this game, frick that bug, frick me, frick everything!!!!!!

what the hell? I've been launched in the air by the dragon whipping the tail around, but never like that

It was like GTAV skydive type falling. Definitely a bug at a very inopportune time.

Revenge is mine!!!
That Mark of the rift ability is devastating. It saved that fight for me.

At about 40 hours in I am on what I think is the last of the story. They did a horrible job of telling you how to obtain the "upgrades" at the war table and after this amount of time not really completing much from the war table I said frick it and am trying to complete the story.

Upgrading to carrying 12 health potions from 8 made such a huge difference in my stress level.
I think one reason I love this game so much is how well incorporated your characters are in the game. In each cut scene it looks like your character was made for the game and not just cut and pasted into the game. They have the exact same hair, skin and clothes graphics as the other main characters. It really makes your game feel unique and really immerses you further into the game.

How do you do that?

Why you rushing along dog?
I'm at 50 hours and I still haven't even opened up tons of areas. I just hit the war table every time I stop to sell crap.
The only thing I have hated grinding so far is shards. Some of those damn shards are in some tough spots to get to without searching for the right path for an hour.

There are a lot of cool things to discover if you just roam around but after about 10 hours of just "doing shite" I need more story. It turns out it was not the last quest. I am level 16.

My only real beef so far is not quite understanding what I should be crafting / modifying.
Also, since valuables are needed sometimes for quests / requisitions, it would be nice if they didn't count against inventory, similar to herbs and metals.
The hissing waste was a bit of a chore. Most areas, you cover pretty much the whole territory doing quests but the hissing wastes, I had a lot of trouble finding things.
Still haven't killed a dragon yet. I've been hiding from them.

what level is everyone? I am level 10 and just wondering if there is a cap to the levels?
Posted on 11/29/14 at 3:08 pm to TigerMyth36
Start with the hinterlands dragon.
I'm level 23 right meow, cleaning things up before the final story mission (I assume).
For crafting, I didn't know about crafting things and then finding purple items that are better. Now that I've seen top tier unique items, I can say that tier 2 and 3 schematics will beat raw stats for most unique items if tier 3 ingredients are used. Save tier 4 ingredients (dragon stuff) for when you want to make masterwork tier 3 stuff.

18. Not sure what the cap is. The XP you get is based on your level. Some monsters stop giving XP once you get too high.
Can't find any info on a level cap other than the original statements that there wouldn't be a cap.

I've been running around Hinterlands cleaning up all the shite stuff right now. There is a rift I can't touch in the southwestern corner of Hinterlands that has level 12 wraths and fire dudes that pretty much one shot me.
Also, what is everyone's general running around group makeup? I have a dagger rogue and I carry Vivienne (setup with all lightning for AoE damage), Iron Bull (2 handed setup with battle master) and Blackwall (set up as a tank). seems to do almost everything I need.
I really liked toting the archer rogues in the others and they seem really weak in this one since I can't find shite for rogues so far. I am selling rare warrior rings because I get so many but have only gotten two rogue rings.

You will be getting daggers out the arse later on, but there ain't much to start with. I spec'd vivienne to spam barriers and things are ez mode.
Posted on 11/29/14 at 3:42 pm to Warfarer
Well, she has knight enchanter which improves barriers. My character is a necromancer which rocks all spirit ability.

You know you're addicted to a game when you're watching your football team play their biggest rival, and beating them, and all you can think about is what to do next in the video game. That's how I am right now.
