I don't think I've had the chance to use AE on a void burn NF or Weekly. I'm assuming it would fair well in that scenario.
I was trying to use it in Crucible to get the "kills with void" on one of my bounties, and it was hard for me to use.

I was on ps4 but only had a small window. My daughter finally went to sleep but I was 45 minutes away from waking her up to feed her. I just did some bounties and stopped.

At least they are starting to drop now. Half our normal group has gotten one in the last week after never seeing one before.
