The wife is a CPA so she is working long hours right now with taxes coming up so I'm pretty excited about that. Try to get in as much as I can until she gets home.

we were able to do party chat while offline last night

I got summoned in a few times as a phantom.
helped out with one of the first bosses a few times.
fun fact: you help kill a boss, you regain your humanity. good way to avoid wasting human effigies.

Same here. Trying to do as much as I can without summoning help, but that's not stopping me from dropping my own summon sign to help others. I find it to be a great way to scope out areas, and bosses before putting my own souls and humanity at risk.
Also just want to say that when the servers are working they really work. Each time I would drop my summon sign I would get summoned within 5 minutes. My only complaint is with the excessive loading times.

Yes, you get it back in increments. So say you're at 1/2 HP, if you help beat a boss 4 or 5 times it should be enough to restore you to human.

I'm trying to go it alone for as long as I can and not get anything spoiled. This first boss is tempting me to get help though.

I was in the same situation. What weapon are you using? I upgraded my broadsword to +3, applied the magic resin thing, took off a lot of my gear so I could roll farther, and he went down. Like a bitch.

This is big. I downgraded from my knight armor to a brigand set and I am diong fine. I finally found a shield with 100% physical defense and my longsword is at +5 or +6. I am kicking arse.

I think you can buy them from the smith as an infinite source. They're what, 600 souls per each?
