Pure sorcery build in DS3 is totally useless. I've pretty much used it in every souls game, but man is it a nightmare in 3. On top of the disappearing sorcery vendor, you pretty much can't win a 1v1 versus any non-ranged enemy.

Magic is pretty insufferable. You really don't get elemental weapon infusions until much later, I didn't see a lightning gem until 3/4 through the game.

That part when you fight that fire demon with Siegward...

Have some siegbrau? His storyline is pretty cool.

Ok I am getting a tad frustrated with getting hit through walls.

I'm a dex build that added Pyro just to have a AOE ranged attack and also added the "magic weapon" spell to add magic to my uchi for the damage. You can get a fire gem as a burial gift.
I think pure casting wise it's not viable until very late game or NG+, but as a hybrid like I'm using it, it is a good compliment. I barely had to invest in faith (just one level to 10) and attunement to get 2 spell slots (3 levels). Def worth it.

I disagree. I loved BB but the Boss designs were lacking. How many of them were mangy dogs really? The one thing they had going was the hunters.
I think DS3 is amazing, and very much a love letter from Miyazaki written in code. DS3 and BB to me are both on the same level.

I'm doing Dex-Faith (Herald) and having success with it. You can get a lightning gem by trading Xanthous crown with the crow. And you get that crown from an invader in Farron Keep. I just need to get the Giants Coal now, so I can infuse my Astora Greatsword. Once that sword is infused and upgraded it gets S scaling in faith!

I just got the sharp gem last night and Faron's Coal, I took off the Raw infusion and added sharp which scales the uchi with DEX at B now. Raw was better until I hit DEX 20, now with the sharp infusion and +4 the uchi is a BEAST.

At the Road of Sacrifices I decided to split up and push both areas ahead:
Got to the Giant trapped in the church for the Cathedral of the Deep
Got to the Wolf Covenant bonfire in Farron's Keep

Cathedral of the Deep is probably my favorite level design - so far. I spent a lot of time there exploring, and dropping my summon sign to help show people the way. I hope there are more levels like it. Btw, I'm not too much farther than you. Just finished Farron Keep yesterday, which is the opposite of a fun level.

I just got to the road of sacrifices. I'm debating on going further or farming souls and leveling a bit. Those huge crabs are destroying me in the swamp
Also, I went balls out to kill that black knight next to the farron coal, took me a good bit of tries, and I was happy when I took him down thinking he was a non-repsawn type enemy bc how hard he was.
Nope, he's back.
sense of accomplishment gone.
Dark Souls.

frick those crabs. I can't even kill one of them. Once I get their health low enough, they just burrow into the ground, and resurface with a full health bar. frick that. I don't even waste my time. frick them. And frick the giant tree things in Farron Keep as well.

I cleared that zone. I just ran from the crabs. Kind of figured they weren't meant to be killed.

yup, this: once I tried to fight one of the crabs and lost all of my souls because they burrowed just after I almost killed them, came back up with full HP, and then 1 shotted me... I was like... NOPE

That's good to know. I figure I have to kill everything for rare drops.
frick those crabs I will not fight them again.

So I am a Mercenary with the Uchigatana, which I really like, and the Lothric Knight Shield (which I also really like).
What is the best way to level myself and the equipment up.
Basically what should I be focusing on?

That is a good shield early on for sure. 100% Physical is always nice.
Posted on 4/18/16 at 11:40 am to Mystery
That is kinda what I was wanting, so should I be pumping it up with shards and gems or what? Is that a waste to focus on that instead of leveling up the sword. I know this is a very broad question, but I pretty much just don't know where to focus.

I am no huge expert on the games. Although I have finished all in the series.
But my opinion is don't upgrade your shield right now. Beef your weapon up. Those shards are precious at the start and the 100% physical is all you need for now.
