yeah, i'm really hoping they change that. it took me 3-4 minutes to figure out how to get to the gunsmith screen.
when you're selected over a weapon, there's 2 tabs underneath it. one for "equip" and the other for "gunsmith". just got to pay attention i guess.

I play MnK on series X, and I can't edit loadouts with my mouse, so I feel you on the UI. It's quite frustrating to have to use the arrows and spacebar to select a loadout pregame.
There are certain guns that have their weapon tree available to see. M4 being one of them. Once you progress far enough on the M4, you unlock other weapons/attachments. The Lauchmann (sp?) is another one that you can view the progression tree on. Once you hit level 13 on the main gun, you unlock the AR, then once you hit level 13 on the AR, you unlock the SMG version which is the MW2 version of the mp5... It's much different than previous CoD's, but once you get the idea of it, IMO, it's pretty cool.
Also I'll say the full game and weapon arsenal isn't fully available just yet, that'll come when it fully releases, so don't pay any attention to the 74u as you can't make progress on that weapon tree as of now. Or the shotgun, or the pistols, sniper, etc. Just level up the guns you can see progression on right now and you'll be ahead of the curve when mw2 fully releases.

I enjoyed the weapons system the first two days,then they changed it completely when it became "open"..When you unlocked what were essentially attachments now, they were originally whole guns you could choose..I thought they had taken guns until I went deeper into gunsmith and found that they had just moved them there

That is true, although I did really enjoy using the 74u. I had a way better k/d with it over the m4

The 74u is definitely OP. I like to run a dot though, so I've been using the Lachmann 556 AR & Lachmann sub (mp5). I find the M4 to be disappointing at range. If you go to the "unlock tree" you can see what to level up to unlock both weapons.

Does MP even last long in these games anymore? Don’t people just go to WZ and WZ only after a month or so of the new game being out?

I had a match like that the first weekend. Q’d up a dom match and the lobby was 6 v 2 at the start. Triple cap at start, lobby fills up ~30 secs in, and it basically becomes TDM because the enemies barely tried to cap. 200-0 for the win. This was with all randos too on Hotel.
