I didn't find those hunter guys too hard, destroyed one of them when I encountered them and killed the other one a few seconds later. They were much easier than hunters I had run into earlier in the game.
I need to go look for that door in the healing place workshop, I didn't realize there was anything in there but falling to the floor.

How do you unlock the door at the top of the tower? I found the door at the bottom bc the door at the top was locked and the only way for me to go was down.

Have to have the upper cathedral key in Yahar'gul, after beating Rom.
If you are running a str build, then a a weapon like the Kirkhammer will get a boost if you invent points into str. The scaling will also improve the more you upgrade the weapon. In this game, it goes from D-A, A being the best.

How do you designate what build you are using? I've been putting all of my echoes into str, end, and vit. I think I'm 25 vit, 23 end and 25 str. Something close to that. I'm still under 10 in everything else I think.

That's fine, really.
If you're doing a pure str build, then those are the stats to focus on. Unless you're making a hybrid build.
You're not going to get much out of arcane and bloodtinge unless you invest in them.

I was about to face Amy(something) and some guy came in and helped and basically 5 shotted it with a maxed out Evelyn. Said his blood tinge was lvl 30

Yeah, some people have said they feel guns are useless and it's not true. I used a +6 canon, with starting bt, buffed it with bone marrow ash and took off a quarter of Rom's health in two hits.

You can pump arcane to 15 to use the empty phantasm shell and get better drops from enemies.

Should I be upgrading my Hunter Pistol or saving my blood stones for a better gun later? My Pistol is +3 I think.

You don't have to; I didn't upgrade mine until near end-game, when I had left over materials.
I mostly use the pistol to parry, not for damage, and if someone is doing the same then it doesn't matter at all. However, if you're looking to do decent damage in pvp or something with a more powerful gun, then yeah, it might be worth upgrading after you've upgraded your trick weapon.

Forgotten Woods is a very frustrating, but extremely well developed level. Very fun to go through.
