big if true. hopefully for everyone's sake that remains the case throughout the life cycle

Without Metroid and Pokemon that would be a bad pres really.
And for one of them they just showed a number.
I'm excited for the possibility of Metroid and I'll get a switch eventually, but still not in the near future.

Metroid Prime 3 has already been in development for 3 years.
Link?

That is two huge announcements for the Switch. I am surprised with the Pokemon announcement. I did not think game freak wanted to do that yet.
Both of these games seem to be a long way out by pure guess though. Probably 2019.
And if the MH news is true and MH:World is a spinoff and NOT MH5 - Which is apparently already in development....2018-2019 would have Metroid, Pokemon, MH5.

Retro Studios has been working on a game for the past 3 years if not longer, so I think it's a safe assumption.

It is not a spin off. Pretty sure capcom already said it is the next main game.
Capcom Blog
Advertised as next Monster Hunter, same development team, and just watch the gameplay, it is the next game.
Now maybe they make another for switch someday.

There's a lot of noise. There's actually a prediction from last year on NeoGaf that called this exact thing happening. MH:World on PS....but there are contract issues with putting it on Switch. This was an agreement, a paid for third party game by Sony, and that MH5 is already in dev on Switch.
Rumors of course, but Mainline MH games are numbered....we've had XX, Frontiers, etc.

I've seen articles that have said retro has been working on a title for a long time and they hired some composer recently that sparked big time metroid buzz
Who knows if the game was shitcanned and since then they've moved to metroid but it's reasonable speculation on his part

Nothing in the blog says MH5 though. It's all semantics for sure right now.
And we won't know until probably next E3, so this is a wasted conversation. Nintendo won't cannibalize XX.

Interesting tweet:

Rocket League will be cross-play between Switch, Xbox and PC.
Again, like Minecraft, no PS4 support.
Sony refuse to join in. #E32017

A rumor on NeoGaf is where you are hearing this from?
And let me get this straight, Sony paid for this game to be released on XBONE and PC?

You can only play against people on other systems right? You can't party up cross console?

It is not called Monster Hunter 5.
Not sure why you are caught up on the name. Have you played the game before? Go watch the gameplay. It is the next version of the main game.
The reason it seems to be called World is because it will have a persistent world, unlike previous installments that had loading screens.
quote:
Also for the first time in the series, Monster Hunter: World will see a global simultaneous launch window, along with a unified cross-region online multiplayer server! So now you can start planning hunts with your friends, no matter where they live.

I imagine because they don't really have a ton to gain by allowing others to play with their giant network of people on PSN. When you have all the people why share them with others?

A rumor that predicted this announcement in October is odd, yes.

Because MH is all about Japan, XBONE and PC are threat level 0 in Japan.
See a fairly balanced article here:
LINK
quote:
Many fans assumed that XX for Switch would be the precursor to an eventual Monster Hunter 5 for Nintendo’s new console, too, since the system’s hybrid play-anywhere design seems to be a perfect match for the series. World complicates the matter, however: it’s not clear whether or where this new direction will take off. It’s entirely possible that Capcom could consider it a spin-off and later proceed with a more conservative sequel on the Switch — or even the 3DS.
1. In Japan, MH has primarily become a portable endeavor
2. There's a typical naming convention using numbers for main games...
3. And a naming convention of "Frontiers," "Generations," for one offs
We just don't know and there's too much haze around it to be sure. I mean you can feel certain if you want, I don't

The business makes sense but don't even pretend that its not anti consumer.

New Metroid for 3ds too. Looks good. I guess they were really committed to not having any 3ds on the spotlight, since it would have taken all of like 30 seconds.

INSANE

Nintendo has done a good job this year, hopefully they can keep it up and not drop off like they did with the Wii
