Pretty sure they offer templates online for free so you can make the shite out of your own cardboard.
So you're paying $80 for the software they developed to be used with a peripheral you can make at your house for free.
I suppose you would prefer they sell you multiple plastic peripherals for $50 a pop like the Wii days?

This is the hill you're going to die on? First, it's at best $20 cardboard, since there is a game.
Second, a board game is $40 cardboard. A nice poster is $30 paper. A shirt is $80 cotton. A PS4 controller is $60 plastic. Etc.
This kind of critique is pretty lame.

You're the one who brought up Labo, and now you're getting all defensive because your opinion of it is shallow and based on no experiences with it whatsoever.
The cardboard aspect of it is actually genius and saves people a lot of money. If any of my Labo pieces ever break, I don't need to go buy another set. I can replace it with other pieces of cardboard and white electrical tape. That's actually a huge benefit to this peripheral, yet you're trying to spin it into a negative.
ETA: Thought I should add that we've had two of our sets for over a year, and have not had to replace any cardboard yet.

Defensive? It's a terrible argument. And it isn't $80 cardboard.
There are dozens of things in this world that are seemingly expensive -take your pick of worthless item here-.
Talking about Nintendo Online - Totally fair. Saying the experience of Labo isn't worth $80 dollars. Also fair. But again, the $60 experience of say Generation Zero when it released could also be said. It has nothing to do with Labo and your value of experiences.
Saying it's $80 cardboard and that's the problem, is unfair.
