According to SteamDB, Fallout 4 has a "New Vegas 2" depot as of yesterday.

Taking it with a grain of salt for now, but if true...

SteamDB has proven to be a reliable source in tracking the updates for development branches on things that may be coming to a game. For example, Skyrim had "marketplace" recently.

Matty is my go to for Bethesda news. If he’s saying it, like he has been for awhile, it’s probably true

If this is a thing, and Bethesda fricks it up, I will burn their fricking houses down.

It’s not something I follow closely, but wasn’t there a new Vegas total conversion mod being worked on by fans?

Being that this is siloed under fallout 4, could that be the explanation?

Im relatively new to steam and how they categorize their files, but how does this indicate a “new” Bethesda release?

Still preferred FO3 but loved NV.

Considering Fallout 5 is like 10 years away. I hope this is true.

Bethesda better just be publishing

Only Obsidian should be developing

Obsidian proved with New Vegas, that they care about the world and lore Interplay/Black Isle created. . .because Osidian was literally founded by Black Isle guys.

Hopefully they flesh out the legion playthrough where you can crush the new Brandon republic for good

Bethesda gets too much shite and Obsidian gets too much credit for all of that. Bethesda had to convert an isometric RPG to a FPS from the ground up, including creating their own shooting mechanic and incorporating V.A.T.S. and had to make some design decisions, which included taking out factions. Obsidian came in and just had to build off that existing tech and was able to focus more on the story and factions because the rest of the work was done for them.

Both FO3 and NV are great games in their own right, but Obsidian didn't come in and create the wheel. Outer Worlds was their shot to create that kind of game from scratch and they didn't blow anyone's mind with it.

I give the appropriate amount of credit and shite.

FO3 and 4 had shite stories, I mean embarrassingly bad. They had almost nothing to do with the previous 2 games, taking place clear across the country. Had some great DLC.

New Vegas had a great story, and a compelling villain. Even had a cameo from Marcus. It had the drab and the absurdist humor of the first 2 games. It was a fallout game, and felt that way.

FO3 felt like ES: Oblivion in dystopia. Only memorable thing about FO3 is the Alien DLC and the slaver quest.

Bethesda created the engine with Oblivion. . .credit to them for that.

But FO3 and FO4 have little to do with Fallout, ad feel completely disconnected. New Vegas felt like Fallout.

There is my distribution of blame and credit, which I feel is fair.

I don't have that experience with the original Fallout games so that's probably why I don't land where you do.

FTR, Tim Cain comments in this video about how he felt the first time he saw Fallout 3.

He said he liked it, but it wasn't what he would have done with it.

He liked seeing the wasteland in 3D

So did I.

The presentation is not the problem

There is a reason why New Vegas feels so much different than 3.

And also why virtually everyone prefers New Vegas to 3. Particularly those that were fans of 1 & 2.

FO3 was Jake Skywalker

NV was Luke

It was fun to play but I felt like I was more nervous about all my decisions in new vegas compared to outer worlds. It's a step in the right direction though.

Would love to play new vegas again. I believe it's been enough time (probably 7 years) that I won't really remember the main story lines.

I can agree with that. Outer Worlds feels like an intro for a new IP. They may have just wanted it to feel more inaccessible.

I'm not setting myself up for this.

I'm expecting creation club shite.

No shite. He even says it at the beginning. It was like your baby being raised by another parent. It's not that you don't like that parent, but it's going to be different.

It was clear he liked what they did to make his world a different experience.
