Not normally into these types of games, but I'm bored.

Then you probably wouldn't like it. From what I've heard it's very much your typical MMO.

I would honestly get FFXIV if you were looking at an MMO. I'm about to hit 60 in New World. It's been fun but tons of bugs and exploits that AGS is diligently working on and no real end game to speak of.

New FFXIV expansion Endwalker drops soon.

Need to point out that FFXIV has a $15/month subscription fee.

Nope.

It is pretty and fun for a few hours, then it gets boring/repetitive.

Getting around the map is a pain.

Progression is ridiculously slow.

I was talking about this with a friend. He said anyone who isn't a complete and total loser will like it. Now I see your post, which confirms this

Bought it on Steam, played the Beta for 3 or 4 hours. Got refund on Steam.

So I like the combat, more engaging than most MMOs. The world is fantastic. But the enemies in the world are not unique enough. As you progress you just fight harder versions of the same bad guy. The end game stair-step model of gear progression is also really stupid. The end game encounters are not very engaging either, but the game is still very new and has promise.

The crafting system is its best element. So if you aren't that sweaty crafter/material-gathering gamer you won't enjoy it. It's very, very repetitive.

I love the idea of the weapon skills driving your specialization and not the other way around.

It's got a good foundation, but the content just isn't there right now.

I'd give it a year or two and revisit. Amazon is at least very engaged with fixing bugs and listening to players, unlike certain other MMOs who's devs just tell the players to frick off while they sexual harass their female employees.

Agreed on everyone's points. AGS stated that they initially planned on big content patches every month but got sidetracked with fixing bugs.

New World definitely has a grind to it which makes it difficult to power level. I have been playing for a bit and will hit 60 tonight. Playing a few hours here and there.

I enjoyed until about level 55... then heard how bad the watermark system was at level 60 for getting the top gear... Then Vanguard, Forza and Halo came out. And I haven't touched it since.

Yea I feel you. 55-60 has been a grind but I'm at the point where I want to hit 60 then put it down until the content catches up.

New games are also why I've been on playing here and there. The Town Board in New World is hands down the fastest way to level for time played. I basically hit up the boards for my level, do the quests that make sense and 3 faction quests and I'm generally dinging a new level by the end of that. Problem is the Town Board quests have timers so I just wait a day from that point.

Lol bots are stealing resources and crashing the economy. Must be Chinese.

This game needs a couple years and then maybe.

I passed. Will just stick to Overwatch and Rainbow Six Siege (and a new season just came out with a new operator).
