If they brought back the exact same combat and the exact same everything except for graphics I'd kind of wonder why they bothered.
At the very least I'd want them to substantially tweak the gameplay. A complete re-working is fine with me.

Well games have had a good bit of success doing this the last few years. There is a market for that.

Sure. But there are different levels of remakes. I didn't play the Shadow of the Colossus remake but from what I've heard that's more of a new coat of paint situation (with some controls improvements).
On the other hand, something like RE2 was pretty substantially changed outside of just graphics.
I guess they could have kept it turn-based but really re-imagined the turn-based battle system. That would have been fine with me, but so is this (potentially). I would not have been very excited by them keeping the same systems (or just making minor tweaks).

Stupid battle system.
Don't want voice acting either.

Can’t wait to see Aerith get gutted again.
Hate her arse.

I blame the ADD generation

Only for poor people.

This is my thought process as well.
I'm not against remasters, like Shadow of the Colossus is a great example of game where a faithful 100% remaster was the perfect fit.
I'd likely get a FF7 remaster but a complete re-imagining is also appealing, assuming what they choose to do works well.

The game was 40% complete when they pushed it out.
This is a criticism of FF15.

Have you played the finished product?
I'll get the Royal Edition when they give it away for free, like they should have to anyone who purchased the original version.

Why has the world thrown turn based away?
Do you own a switch?
Ocotpath Taveler and Battle Chaser's Nightwar are both awesome turned base games. Setsuna is fun as well
I was amazed at how much fun Battle Chasers is.

Yeah. That's what he's talking about.

These turn based loyalists again. You think Square Enix would throw all its eggs in one basket to make FF7R turn based? That would stall the game’s pacing so bad even more so than the previous one.

I'm going to buy the frick out of this game

I don’t understand the hate FFXV get. I loved that game. If FFVII is the same story with upgraded combat system I’ll be very happy.

I feel lucky that even when the gaming world changed and evolved into fps, action, etc that we still get FF titles.
I loved 15 and put 200+ hours into it.
FF7 is my favorite all time game.
This looks amazing and I cannot wait.
Im also happy they are doing installment/episodes so to not cut corners and compromise since the original FF7 was massive and a current gen version on one disc would be impossible

The only thing new is the combat (which I am hoping will be good) and that Sephiroth scene from the trailer. He shouldn't show that early.
Consensus seems to be when Cloud gets the Sephiroth dialogue visions (when it was just text) it's going to be actually a vision of him

People can discuss the pros and cons of turn-based combat if they want for the sake of argument. But in terms of this remake I think that ship has sailed.
it reminds me of when they announced cyberpunk 2077 was going to be a first-person game. I and quite a few other people absolutely hated that and I still hate it. But at this point it's not changing so it's just up to me to decide if I still want to get the game first person and all (I almost certainly will)

Going to get it regardless.
Would like to see it turn based like the original.
They also had better not frick with the soundtrack.
