Third Generation: NES
Fourth: SEGA Genesis
Fifth: This is the hardest one as PS1 had the best monoplayer games and N64 the best multiplayer games, but I am picking the Nintendo 64.
Sixth: X-Box
7th: X-Box 360
8th: PS4
9th: Switch, because I can actually get one
What are your thoughts?

What’s your reasoning for PS2 over X-Box? What games put that system over the top for you?

All the xbox was for a while was Halo. Plus, the PS2 didn't come with that big potato controller.
ETA I had both and honestly only ever broke out the xbox for Halo LAN parties.

God of War I and II, GTA III and San Andreas, FFX, Gran Turismo 4, and SOCOM II were all games that I played non-stop.
I did have an xbox 360 that I had until I got the RRD 3 times, and swore off Xbox ever since.

First of all, I would say there has never been a console to make me not prefer PC, and I never bought a console until the sixth gen because of that but IMO:
Sixth: OG Xbox
Seventh: 360 but extremely close between it and PS3
8th: PS4
9th: TBD

Gamegear was vastly superior to the gameboy in every way but portability and battery life
Only thing the gameboy had going for it was pokemon

My first exposure to online multiplayer. I couldn’t wait to get home and squad up with the boys. I’ve been hooked ever since.

The sudden switch for the 7th generation was that I won a free Xbox 360 through Mtn Dew along with a case of Amp, Kameo, and Need for Speed.

I was fortunate in that my folks got me a car charger for my Game Gear.
Well, I thought it was for me. Now that I'm an adult I realize that was actually for their own sanity on long car rides.
