The answer is actually when a Like-Like works with the "hand of doom" - takes your things, then warps you to the beginning of the level, making your items FOREVER GONE!!
Most annoying combination.

Ocarina of Time was amazing, but unlike NES and SNES games, N64 games aren't usually as good as you remember them being when you go back to them, and I doubt you will appreciate an N64 game that you're playing for the first time. Because the N64 was the first console to really embrace 3 dimensionsal gameplay, the controls and camera typically weren't very polished.
Eh, I agree to some extent.
I would think exposure to games like Fallout 3 and all of the nooks and crannies to freely explore would deaden the effect of OOT more than that.
OOT definitely gets some accolades in that it was one of the games that wrote the book of how you transition controls from a 2D world to a 3D one.

The N64 came out in September '96. I think OoT came out in November '99. It didn't revolutionize controls for 3d gaming at all really. I'm not bashing it at all; it was my favorite N64 game.
Mario 64 came out with the launch and revolutionized the controls for 3d adventure games, and Banjo Kazooie came out in '98 and fine tuned them.

Like-Likes always made me nervous....I tend to be super conservative in games and don't like the idea of permamently losing shite.
But now I wonder....how does that work?
Let's say you have the Mirror Shield and lose it....how can you get another one?
Same with the tunics
ETA: Ah

In addition to eating Link's shields, Like Likes will also eat the currently equipped tunic. An easy way to avoid this is to equip the Mirror Shield and Kokiri Tunic, both of which cannot be eaten by Like Likes, as it is impossible to obtain another of either items.

My favorite game of all time. Enjoy your first playthrough.
I think I'm actually going to start a new game when the Jets -Texans game is over.

It seemed like it must have taken longer because those delays seemed like they lasted forever when I was a middle schooler.

I was thinking of M64 as the other big contributor.
I never played that game (blasphemy, I know...), but did it have a form of Z lock? That was the main thing I was thinking of for OOT's chapter on that book.

The Z lock kind of furthers my point as to how controls weren't very good for the N64. Z-lock was a great, but pretty much necessary improvement for Zelda because of the control issues.

That's what wiki mentions as its big contribution to 3D style gameplay.
It wasn't the first to do 3D worlds, but it was definitely one of the first and one of the biggest contributors to the genre.
My first and favorite zelda game. I recently bought a 3DS, but have yet to get OoT 3D.

I wouldn't say Z-lock was a result of control issues. future zelda games kept the z-lock feature and I wouldn't say the gamecube had control issues. Now, newer zeldas may be easier to play without using z-lock than OoT was, but I would have to test that to find out.

If Nintendo would use dual thumbsticks, they wouldn't need the Z-lock anymore and combat would be a lot better. It was a great addition for the N64 though, for sure.

There are few bosses in the Zelda franchise more annoying than Moldorm in the Tower of Hera. Only the third dungeon in Link to the Past, and he takes me quite a few tries to beat every time. It's the pits, not the boss itself that make it so frustrating.

That the worm one where if you fall you have to climb back up and start all over?
Posted on 8/15/11 at 11:00 pm to CNB
Yes... I always fall about ten times.

I think I busted a keyboard while emulating that boss.

yeah man that one was tough.
as far as standard enemies, darknuts in LoZ were fricking vicious, especially in the 9th temple where they stick you in a room with 12 of them.
bosses: I always had trouble with mothula. The conveyor floor and spikes made it difficult. btw I hate that castle so much. Twinrova was a bitch. Twinmold was a PITA because I didn't have enough MP at the start of the battle to stay giant for long.

There really aren't many difficult bosses in the 3D games that I can think of. Even in Ocarina of Time, Ganondorf is the only really intimidating foe.
The most difficult boss in Zelda history, all things considered, is probably Thunderbird from The Adventure of Link.
