Is there anything more annoying than the Like-Like monster?

That fricking thing in the older games that was a hand, it would take you back to the beginning of a dungeon. I forgot the name of those things.

The NES Like Like was the first thing I thought of.

Also Bubbles:

Wallmasters freaked me out when I was little:

I was killed by Darknuts more than anything:

Lynels were the toughest overworld monster:

Wizzrobes were a pain:

And lastly, I hated Zolas because it drove me crazy having to ignore them. I always wanted to try to kill them, but I would always get hurt.

Wallmasters are infuriating until you perfect the strategy to avoid them..

Somehow I've never played a single Zelda game and I've been gaming since 1992... Am I an anomaly or what.

Thought Zelda sucked and was boring as a kid so never played on nes or snes... Then never got a 64/cube/wii/any other Nintendo product.

I feel like I've missed out. Can't emulate them on a desktop either...

Threads like this make me wonder if I'm ready to start ocarina of time...

.

currently I don't own any type of PC or laptop at home and am too cheap to get one. However conundrums like the one I have presented suddenly make my budget increase.

No one raved about Zelda back in the day, but i read this board, and discuss amongst my contemporary peers at work, and everyone says GOAT etc

I'm not hardcore enough to go back to the 8 bit iterations however.

For the price of a console and disk on eBay, I'm sure I can build a desktop PC setup... I need to do this

Legend of Zelda and Link to the Past are the 2 best. Ocarina of Time was amazing, but unlike NES and SNES games, N64 games aren't usually as good as you remember them being when you go back to them, and I doubt you will appreciate an N64 game that you're playing for the first time. Because the N64 was the first console to really embrace 3 dimensionsal gameplay, the controls and camera typically weren't very polished.

Link's Awakening is an underrated game in the series.

Agree for the most part, and I don't know if this actually counts, but OoT for the 3DS is awesome.

I spent countless hours playing that on my Gameboy. Great game. Was it just me, or was that game really hard? Maybe I was just young, but it seemed harder than most Zeldas.

Yeah, I think it had fewer dungeons than most Zelda games, but each dungeon past about the 4th one was very challenging.

Eagle's Tower and Turtle Rock are mind-boggling.

I had a hard time navigating the overworld in that one, too.

There was a LOT of going into inventory > switching out items, but that was a limitation of the Gameboy. I remember using the jump feather thing a bunch.. I thought the chomp chomps and goobas from mario was a strange twist

redeads were pretty annoying too. the way they should freeze you with their shriek and then back hump you if you got too close. Not to mention the frickers were creepy as hell.

False. I love OoT, but pretty much any great SNES game has aged a whole lot better than any N64 game.
