Preach. I don't like games that make you play like it's your job, and this is just too much for me. I play to relax and this thing is pretty sweaty

hit Hunter Rank 49 last night, gotta get after Tempered Kirin now to progress. Sitting at 124 hours in game and have all the optionals done through 7 star. This game is addicting af!

I don't understand this sentiment. This is a single player or co-op game where no one else's progress has any bearing on your own whatsoever.

Play the game at your own pace. It is wonderful whether you are HR 3 or HR 100

i just disagree with a lot of the design decisions and don't enjoy it. And this most definitely a game you have to do a LOT of outside research on to progress at all even if it is single player. Just not for me, I don't like the feel

Yep. I got the game 2 weeks ago and as much as I'd love to just take a week off of work and play 8 hours a day, I can't.

I get an hour here and an hour there. At about 18 hours of playtime and still haven't even finished low rank.

Anybody got tips on killing the damn rathalos? He's set up shop in my head the last 3 nights.

The most frustrating part of the game is seeing all the cool HR stuff online and not being anywheres close to getting it.

If you're struggling with Low Rank Rathalos, then High Rank is going to be a fun time.

Probably helps that I've come from previous MH games, but Rathalos/Rathian are probably my 2 favorites to fight because of how familiar with them I am.

Don't get greedy. Get in a few attacks then get out. If they're low on stamina (drooling/not moving much) then feel free to unload for a bit since they won't be attacking much. Watch out for fireballs. Don't spend too much time under them while they're in the air (they'll try to claw/tail swipe you and poison you).

This game is all about learning the monsters tendencies and knowing when to unload and when to play it safe.

Make sure you upgrade your armor, the armor spheres you have now become basically worthless. Spend them...

Use a cutting weapon if possible to get rid of the poison issue:

Yea this is my first time playing, like I said <20 hours in. My biggest problem is I get fricking greedy. Mash a few too many buttons and I get pummeled

Just wait a bit. I'm at like 70 hours played, I'm HR like 41 and I'm to the point to where I've fought so many monsters, so many times that I may get hit like 1-2 times a fight now just because I know their move set.

Now of course, it sometimes still happens where I'll get hit and then get hit again ASAP and die lol, but that gets it refreshing.

I'm still having a blast and not even to the tempered Elders yet.

Rathalos was my first "wall" or "gear check". He beat the shite out of me twice. Upgraded my weapon, added a little defense to my gear, and learned the fight.

**cut his tail off asap** this lessens your chances of getting poisoned exponentially (claws still poison)

2/3 Elder Dragons down. Last of them tonight

Teostra took two tries, didn't know he had a "one shot" move

Kushala Daora was the only elder that gave me issues (aside from Nergigante).

He was also the first one I did. Did Teostra and Vaal Hazak my first attempt each with no deaths.

The final guy after the elder dragons is a fun fight. Been farming him whenever he comes up and just made his longsword.

Then at HR 29 they throw you a quest to hunt 2 Tempered Bazelgeuse and it made the elder dragon fights feel like low rank.

Low Rank Kirin got a cart near the end because of rough combo that stunned me. Not looking forward to the HR49 quest to do High Rank Tempered Kirin. Hear he kicks your arse even with high lightning res.

I haven’t had a problem seeing most stuff, but I would literally think I was safe and then just get one shotted.

I took that optional quest because I confused Kirin with something else. Wasn't prepared for that and obviously it didn't go well.
