Sony left zero chance of that happening on their console because a used games market and the Steam model can not coexist.
Why can't they coexist?

The used games market is a billion dollar industry JUST for Gamestop. You add in the other retailers that handle trade ins and it's even bigger.
You would be asking publishers to not only make less when they do sell a new game but also to continue to have to compete against their own games on the used market that they make zero off of.
How many do you think could bleed for that long? Not very many.
Do you want even more DLC and for some of it to become mandatory or even pay to win? Then go ahead and ask publishers to give you games as cheap as they do on Steam and keep the used game market around.

I really have zero empathy for publishers complaining about used games. Budget better like CD Projekt and be more profitable.
On topic: I do think that there should be a floating price point, where publishers should be able to set a target price point to compensate for whatever value they're delivering. Adopting more of that from the PC market (even it does exist now with consoles) would be a good thing, imo.

I have read that. Nintendo says that poeople won't trade in great game, and that is bullshite.
When I play a single player game and finish it, I will rarely ever touch it again, no matter how great it is.

I'm really starting to hate Nintendo. What planet do they live on?

I already read it and it's full of delusion.

How so? There's a lot of reasons that used games do not hurt the industry, and rather than publishers looking internally to fix budgets, they use a red herring fallacy to justify it.
What their sayings makes more sense than the rantings of CliffyB. LINK

Maybe there is more involved that I know, but why is a company that is so intent on "DD for the greater good!" also restricting it by not allowing indie devs to self publish?

I will take Cliffy Bs comments with less of a grain of salt. He has been in the industry since he was 14 or 16 and actually develops for the platforms in questions. Not to mention he is one of the most successful devs out there and was very instrumental in building one of the most used game engines in the industry.
The Nintendo article is delusional for the fact they aren't really competing against other platforms and haven't been since Sega died and even that was a one man race. They have always concentrated on a niche market and it works for them. Due to this the development cost is also always going to be cheaper because you aren't playing a Wii or Wii U for bleeding edge graphics. Not that their hardware could support it anyway.

you know why this answer is bullshite?
For the same reason it would be bullshite for GM to charge more for their vehicles because there is a used car market. But has GM ever came out and said "man we'd knock our prices down if people would voluntarily stop buying used cars?"
Of course not, because sane people know that people don't cross shop used cars and new cars . If they want a new car they buy a new car, very few if any are looking at a new car and then just decide to buy a used one instead. Likewise very few people shop used cars and then just decide "frick it and buy new. Meaning GM isn't losing ANY profit because they werent going to sell a new car to those who buy used anyway.
Same with video games. VERY few if any customers are at Gamestop contemplating a new game and buy used instead. Most people when they want a new game they want a NEW game. They only buy used as fillers.

Or it's a cheaper option and you have a money back guarantee after a week with Gamestop.
And to compare buying used games to used cars is very Arkansas of you.

This is so off. Want to know why?
Because unlike a used vs new car you are getting the EXACT same thing when you buy a used copy of CoD vs a new one. Same game, same playability, same everything. That can't really be said for a used vs new car can it?
There is so much more to worry about and take into consideration buying a used car. Miles, did the previous owner change the oil every 3K, was it wrecked, future resale value, etc. It's also a very large investment to take on. Just a lot to consider car shopping in general so therefore your whole analogy is just ignorant at best.
ETA and you are silly if you think that used car prices and sells don't play into the new car market including their pricing.

It's literally one of the worst analogies I have ever seen on TD.

I just chose a product, but really you could sub any product that you can buy both new or used.
Rarely do people cross buy.
The people who buy NCAAFB14 in a few weeks are going to do so regardless of cost, they aren't going to go down to GS and see the 13 version for $30 and grab it instead. You know that's true.
On the other hand, the people who DO go next week or whatever and buy the 13 version for $30 had NO intention of buying the $60 current version. You know that's version as well.
