I'm surprised Microsoft has waited this long to start development.
Kinect
ETA:
It was meant to prolong the life of the Xbox. Instead of creating a new console for hardcore fans they wanted to take advantage of the casual market. This unfortunaetly costs us hardcore gamers.

i can see it now.
little white box, bout the size 4"v 5". Giant shining apple logo on top. Disc tray upfront. Cables in the back. Real pretty. maybe encrusted with diamonds.
Then you load it up and it has SNES graphics and a shite ton of ported over sony and microsoft games. But don't worry despite the graphics and hardware disfunctionality.... It's really easy to use and figure out.
Then for the marketing buildup they give one to Justin Beiber and Obama base the marketing campaign around them.

Not surprising. Industry experts all predicted 2015 for the next gen consoles. If they are just starting to fill positions, you're probably looking at a 2014 launch. Fall 2013 at the absolute earliest.

Kinect
If I were Microsoft, I would have done the same thing. Get the motion capability/functionality down, then incorporate it into the next gen console.

Hopefully.
At this point it just seems like away to tap into the casual market, but it comes at the expense of hardcore games.
We have yet to see an actual "hardcore" Kinect game, and not to mention that the list of xbox harcore (non-Kinect) exclusives lately is almost non-existant. They just lost Mass Effect and Bungie to multiplat, the 2 biggest exclusive games/developers besides maybe Gears.

Yes.
Now or within the next year or so would most certainly be the time to pull out an ace from their sleeves as far as a Kinect game goes.
As much as I enjoy Kincet Sports and Dance Central. Those games will only entertain for so long and for so many people.

At the same time, I am much happier playing a game with a controller and without Kinect. So even if they come out with some good hardcore Kinect games, what will that moevement of time/money into those games do to the development of non-Kinect hardcore games?

dunno. good question.
we'll have at least 2 more COD titles and Gears 3.

I hope that one pans out for your sake. I'll wait and see.
Did you pick up The Show yet?

Don't have a PS3, brah. And I think Homefront will be fun. The concept appeals to me and I just think it doesn't for Anti, that's why he gives it so much shite.
I'm waiting to see if 2K11 is worth more than used toilet paper this year. I wish The Show was cross platform.

I hope this is true, because I am going to need something to hold me over until something good comes out.
BF3 looks the most promising of anything I have seen within the last year or so.
Any more news on the latest Operation Flashpoint game? It looked interesting and had more of a tactical feel to it.

There's a thread lost in the shuffle and probably back a few pages, but yeah...if you follow any of the developers on Twitter, they put out tons of information. It's looking good if you're into a slow, methodical and tactical game.
I'll look for the thread...
