I use ms pts to renew my membership, but dlc and games
This sentence kind of confused me so I'm not sure. I know you can purchase MS points on those cards as well.

You guys keep calling Microsoft Points stupid, but from a business standpoint, it was brilliant.
You want to buy a game/dlc/etc. that costs 1700 MP's? Well, we only sell them in multiples of 400, so you'll have to buy 2000.
They make you purchase an additional 300 points.
Then, you see something that you want to purchase for 700 MP's and you think, "I already have 300, 400 MP's is nothing."
Sorry, the smallest amount we sell is 800. They get you to purchase an additional 400 that you didn't need, and now you have points in your account that will repeat the process.
It was quite a smart move by Microsoft.

Oh yeah, from a business standpoint, it's brilliant, just like it's brilliant for EA to sell the same game year after year with updated rosters and still charge $60, knowing people will pay it. Doesn't make it less annoying.

Now that I read it back it confused me too. I meant in DONT use ms pts for membership. I used the cards. Long week. Friday. And I'm a moron

Its fricking annoying, but it isn't stupid.

Yes it is. Buncha stupid heads
And MJ, I'm guessing that if you have your points already assigned to your account, they can make the conversion to cash and leave that one there. I'm assuming you were wondering if they would reverse charge the leftover points back to your CC?

No. Not worried about current points. Have none. I'm wondering how I buy stuff on XBL wo a currency system. I'm not using my cc after the hackers delight a couple years ago

Cmon MJ, use your head. They will likely have a pre-paid card for cash users.

Well if it's anything like PSN, you can purchase credit like you did with the points cards in XBL.

It was the whole point. Force people to pay more than they need.

I have no problem using my credit card if needed. If those fricktard Microsoft employees wouldn't have declined my chargeback I would have had my money returned in 24 hours. I'm just not going to store my number on their servers anymore.

Any extra money Microsoft made by having points was/is extremely negligible relative to their bottom line. Probably no more than a rounding error.
