Only one studio got closed. They had been working on one game for the entirety of their existence and weren't even able to put together a trailer for the game using in-game assets.

Not sure how this comment relates to this thread, but you do you I guess. I've been very happy with XBox and Game Pass for many years now. I've gotten well more than my money's worth out of it.
To try to tie that into this thread somewhat, I'm not sure why I would care how profitable Game Pass is for Microsoft. I care about how much money it saves me and how much enjoyment I get from it. The fact it is, obviously and clearly, profitable for Microsoft just means they're more likely to keep making that service available to me. Nothing more, nothing less.

No, I'd say it has plenty of great games and they don't need more time at all. Game Pass has been phenomenal for years.

I dont have game pass anymore because i was using it for PC only but I will say it wouldve already paid for itself this year with what I spent on Expedition 33 and Oblivion Remastered on PS5. It does suck when they take things off though, but that is just part of the tradeoff. Oblivion will stay on there forever I'm sure. Wanted to resubscribe to play Railway Empire 2 one day and noticed it was gone. I noticed the same with Deathloop on PS Plus

I use gamepass PC, and I think it's a pretty good deal and I use it a lot, but I admit I have been underwhelmed by most of the first party releases from Microsoft for a long time. I thought studio acquisition may help with that, but it's still been the same thing.

Yeah the third party titles come and go. I'm sure Clair Obscur will fall off eventually also. They do usually find their way back to Game Pass at some point. RDR 2 and GTA V leave and come back fairly regularly.
Once they put a first-party title on there, it stays forever. This has been slower-moving with ABK titles, but they're getting them on there. They recently added all the RTS Warcraft games to Game Pass for PC. They've even been putting retro Activision titles on there recently, which has apparently been fairly popular. They seem committed to getting the entire library onto the service, which is awesome. LINK

Yes. Microsoft's purchases of studios have been profitable for both the company and for Game Pass.

I mean good on them in a way, it’s just a bit silly. As to the threads title I think it’s near impossible to discuss gamepass financial viability one way or another. I do know I never want it to be the only way to access games and likely has a pretty close hard cap to how high it can grow. On the other hand it’s a great optional service to have around.
