Bro, you should have told your mom to stop being poor. Problem solved.

Hey guys...whats going on in this thread?

Eh this is so remarkably dumb. I realize we are a more connected society now with many more people having access to internet, but yet it's still a convenience in times when money is getting tighter.
When I was a kid single mom had a factory job and probably made 350-400 a week in Missouri. Let's say she was able to buy me one of these nice new consoles for christmas or a birthday (somehow). The additional charge of cable internet would have been out of the question though.
This has been several years, but I imagine quite a few people would still be in this type of situation.
It's just a complete joke and I hope Microsoft tanks for this decision.
That sucks. It really does. You have to look at it from Microsoft's perspective. Poor kid from Missouri buys a console (MS loses money selling the console at a loss) and you scrap together enough funds to get a new game or two a year (MS makes very little off of each third party title).
What benefit as a publicly traded company do they receive by targeting that poor kid?
These console manufacturers are in business to make money. The consumer is nothing but a vehicle to give them money.
PS4 is all about the games? It seems to me that MS is the one that has the game developers best interests in mind.
Sony will follow suit with a lot of similar DRM features and this board will move on to another "issue" they have with the Xbone.

I'm confused. How are they losing money by selling a console?

Really?
The consoles production cost > sales price

Sony and Microsoft have always sold the consoles initially for less than it costs them to make. Knowing they will make the money up in game sales.
Nintendo, while selling much less advanced hardware has typically turned a profit on the initial console sale.

All of this post + the better (imo) exclusives for sony means "buy a PS4" to me. My mind is made up.

It's incredible to me that so many people in this country will defend a corporation for their anti-consumer activities

Defend? That may be a stretch. I'm pointing out the obvious for all the kids on the board who think Sony and Microsoft make consoles out of the kindness of their heart and their sole goal is to gain factions of fanboys on the internet.

Expect Sony to employ a similar licensing infrastructure. It may not be as restrictive as the One's, but there will certainly be a system in place.

Trying to make money is one thing, going out of your way to hurt consumers is something else.

People are making far too big a deal about this.
The majority of you mofo's are only playing Madden Online, COD or BF Multiplayer, so your console is going to be online all the time anyway.

Is it? I thought it was very kind.

Sorry bro. I don't keep up with all things gaming.
Doesn't seem like a very smart way to run a business. I think MS and Sony are just BSing everyone and telling them that. They get the consoles made in sweatshops for like $50 each

I dare you to venture out into other forums or gaming sites. TD is by far and away the kindest place (speaking of sites that cover all platforms) I've seen to MS and the Xbone information that has released.
