I stopped caring about Metal Gear a while back.
In my mind, they still haven't surpassed the first Metal Gear Solid. And I've never found Raiden to be that good of a character. I still don't know how he became uber badass Gray Fox 2.0, but I didn't have a chance to play 4. Hacking off enemies limbs looks like it could be a little mindless fun, but that's about it.
Side note: Wasn't Kojima supposed to retire from this shite about 3 games ago?

konami won't let him?
i know that he spent a lot of time developing mgs: peacewalker and that he hasn't been directly involved in mgs: rising. maybe this will change since peacewalker's recent north american release - but IMHO if it's not a stealth game it's not metal gear.

mgs series was one of my favorite series of all time. i hd so many good memories playing those games and sadly have not played 4 since i dont have a ps3. rising looks so badass if it didnt have the mgs title. ill probabally get it but i hope it doesnt ruin the mgs bloodline with its "lightning bolt action" instead of "tactical espionage action"

The storyline got too far out in left field after Metal Gear Solid. I played MGS2 (WTF was up with that story?) and Snake Eater, but I didn't even touch Guns of the Patriots.

MGS2 was great even if had one of the most effed up storylines ever.
Snake Eater was garbage. I hate when games make you micromanage everything. It was the same reason I stopped playing GTA games after Vice City.
I have to admit, the trailor for the new one looks bad to the bone even it does look to betray the style of the series

right.
that's why it confused the hell out of me when i got peace walker for the psp and "snake" (aka naked snake aka big boss) was the main character and it was 1974. i guess the order of release of the games and the chronology of the story were never consistent.
