Just have Jacob’s loyalty mission and the Overlord/Firewalker missions left before I go get Legion and the IFF. ME2 has gone by way too quickly… playing as a sentinel for the first time has been pretty enjoyable so far though!

I know it was a free DLC, but Jesus

And in my opinion, Kaiden grows more in the next couple of games than Ash.
I am doing my second run through as Renegade (my first run I let Ash live as a Paragon), and was planning on doing everything opposite of my first run....
... except I will struggle to let Kaidan live in her stead... it just seems so, so wrong

He has vastly more crew interaction (the random walk arounds on the Normandy) in the later games. Ash is kind of a potted plant.
Eta: also, make sure you exhaust her conversation options in 1. He actually has an interesting story to tell.

Pretty much have all of the side missions/assignments completed for ME 1. Working through the main missions now. Wow, I forgot how much pain the Rachni inflict. Died for real for the first time trying to escape the swarm. I say for real, because the first time I died I was still trying to milk XP by shooting rocket turrets with my sniper rifle instead of just using the MAKO. Glad they changed that.
I think I'm going to rescue Kaiden for the first time ever. I guess I don't find Ashley's belligerent jealousy endearing when you bring Liara on board. Maybe I'll take the two of them for a walk around the Citadel to see if they have any back and forth sass.

Yeah, the rachni pack a fricking punch in ME1, even the little green bastards if you're playing on a high enough difficulty.
And definitely glad they tweaked xp. shite was terrible in the original game

I couldn’t complete the quest where you had to rescue the soldiers above ground and then go into the tunnels to kill the two rachni “alphas”.
On Insanity, it is damn near impossible as an adept.
One shot from the small ones takes half your health.

Yep, not touching Insanity with a squishy character. I went Infiltrator in ME:1. Not sure if I want to do Infiltrator for the cloaking in ME:2 or Engineer for the drone and hacking.
But I also remember ME:2 not being made for technical characters. Mainly because the AI is much much more aggressive. I played both classes in the past and remember throwing the drone up and hiding or cloaking in an "oh shite" moment and running away to cower in the corner.
I'm not sure if I just put more levels into them or if it got buffed. But Overload/Sabotage/Damping seem to do way more damage than I remember. A 1-2-3 punch with these and a couple of shots from the pistol takes out most enemies on Hardcore.
eta: Wow, played with the shotgun and explosive ammo for the first time. Wow, it's is incredibly effective for Thorian Creepers. I definitely put the Mass Effect physics engine to the test. It also works very well against Rachni and a lesser extent Husks. Sniper rifle with explosive ammo is fun too.
Off to Virmire now.

So, mid way through ME2. I've been sending probes to take every single planet I see down to depleted. Decided today to look up how many resources I'll actually need to research everything... Wow, I've wasted a lot of time.
Sitting on 70k Element Zero, 500k each of Iridium, Platinum, and Palladium. Man I wasted a lot of time. Guess I can actually play the game now. I think I remember doing this my first ME2 playthrough years ago.

Taking planets down to depletion is, in fact, a giant waste of time. With that said, you may not have wasted too much time yet. In order to get the largest war asset boost for ME3, you want to end ME2 with 100k of each resource (I've never gotten a straight answer of whether that includes Ezo, so I do it just to be safe).
So enjoy the game, and don't worry too much about scanning unless you see your numbers dropping below 100k. And there are lists online of which planets have a substantial Ezo presence, if you want to just bump that at the end if you're running short.

Just finished my second playthrough (since getting the LE) earlier this evening. I once again chose the Destroy ending, which really makes me sad knowing what happens to EDI and the Geth. But if i go to all the trouble of getting almost every possible war asset, i feel like its such a waste to choose an ending where Shepard doesnt survive.
Oh well… Guess i will start an engineer playthrough here in a few days

I said a few pages ago that, after playing LE (which tweaked war asset numbers), I think an 8000 war asset total should shield synthetics. frick Star Brat.

100 % agree, other than just Shepard surviving, that would have been a great reward for 8000+ war assets… hell they could add that in now if they felt like it.

Engineer is OP as frick
Shields and Armor stand no chance if you run Edi with you

Just restarted ME1 as an engineer (and made shep spaceborn so you get to have the convo with his mom).
ME1 it has been a bit painful so far because of how unbelievably slow the recharge times are for the powers. Cant wait to get to ME2.
At this point i’m going for 100% achievements. Im at 98% on 2 and like 90% on 3. I’ve got a few left on 1, mainly the tech and biotic power achievements. These will be the first games i will ever 100%. 3rd playthrough in the past 4 months and i’m not even tired of it lol

ME1 is such a slog.
ME2 got the powers right and is the best in the series

ME2 just seems too linear for me. Sure you can do missions in almost any order, but I kind of miss doing donuts in the Mako, versus dropping you off at the front door of the mission.
