My oldest is 7 and really has enjoyed playing Mario Kart and Mario Party Superstar. We played Mario Bros U Deluxe recently at a friends house.

Asking, what is the best solo/multiplayer for the Switch?

Thinking Odyssey, Deluxe, 3D, or Wonder.

Any help would be appreciated!

3D is gonna have Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy so I would lean towards that but I don’t think they have multiplayer options.

Super Mario 3D World is just a fun romp that is perfect for that age.

I think any of the recent games would be fine. It could be because I’m older but it feels like they have really toned down the difficulty of the platforming in these games in the switch era. The difficulty usually lies in the finding of secret paths and going for 100% completion. Actually finishing the levels are fairly easy compared to the older games IMO

3D world and odyssey are my 7 year olds mainstays. He also likes Mario vs Rabbids but that’s like Xcom

Full disclosure some of the secret levels in 3D world are ridiculously hard and have a bunch of bullshite to try and 100% the level

Which is why I specifically said the challenge in the games are finding the secrets and completing the games to 100%

I knew what you meant but the platforming is sick on some of them because in most of the Star levels the entire level is moving in some fashion. I’m specifically thinking about the one where you have to control the forward/backward platform while dodging the all the bullets and flying dry bones

ETA: the first one on 3ds is just like it and I hope they remake that one too or release it on switch online somehow

I would not recommend 3D for kids. The controls are far different in modern games when compared to those games. My kids had a hard time picking it up for that reason.
