they were bought out, and the youtube channel was purged.

Does this mean BFF can start making their show again?

Crazy how popular they were and how far they dropped

I wanted to make a thread asking what happened to them.
So, I guess I’ll ask here. What in the world happened to Machinima?

No sources or inside knowledge here, but. . .
One thing I pieced together over the years is that Machinima was in the habit of signing content creators to these extremely oppressive contracts which essentially gave Machinima ownership of all the talent's characters, formats, etc.
It really came to light with the guys from Battlefield Friends.
Afterwards, Machinima couldn't get anyone to sign with them, and new original content dried up. Machinima tried to change it's practices, but the damage was done. They were seen as toxic.

Not only are their videos gone, possibly moved to new partner, but what about the content makers that were still with them. Sounds like no one was notified of anything.

They tweeted they weren't going to comment on it right now, but I know the relationship between them and Machinima hasn't been good for a while. Also they didn't think BF1 worked with the series.
Plus, animating doesn't pay on YouTube.

Machinima to me was the epitome of casual gamers talking about games and signing on special guests to make their channel look good.
Its like if you gave Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb their own company and let them expand through YouTube. They had some good stuff on there no doubt. But nothing that a content creator like game grumps or egoraptor couldn’t do.

Ahh ok. I just remember them messing over Pewdiepie a few years back and it seemed like they’ve been downhill ever since. Think he was the biggest YouTuber in the world and Machinima didn’t even know he existed or some shite.
Crazy because they were the top dogs in gaming for YouTube.

They have been Dead. I'm confused.
On another note how does that RoosterTreth channel have a following? What a bunch of dorks. They are cancer in the gaming critic review market.

The funhaus channel is pretty good to watch, I don't watch anything else under the rooster teeth umbrella though.

Yeah, they got creators to sign horrible contracts.
they took 65-75% of the cash, and had rights to all of your work, although down the road, creators were able to get the past work part nulled by the courts.
Wasn't the bald guy, who lived in Canada and did CDO zombie video part of machinima? I think he has a channel called brainfreeze now on youtube?

Rooster Teeth has grown a lot. They have their own animated shows on YT and their website. They're pretty good imo

I’m a big Funhaus supporter. They’re great

Good. Machinima deserved to die after they screwed over the Arby n the Chief creator. That show is hilarious.

What in the world happened to Machinima?
When the youtube first started advertising wasn't prioritized for gaming channels. Youtube let companies like Machinima handle that, so gaming content creators liked to join those companies. When youtube got around to how they would advertise gaming channels content creators didn't feel they needed companies like machinima. Machinima did not successfully evolve in the new market place.
