I've been playing on this server for a few months and it's amazing...normal xp rates, no pay to win, a MASSIVE global community, and content progression...many raids and items have yet to be released and it's entirely free and is normally stable. If you yearn for classic WoW or never played and are interested it's definitely worth it.

I admit, I really miss old school WoW where the game was quite a challenge if you messed up.

I could never bring myself to pull the trigger on WoW when I was younger. I broke down and joined during Legion and now I wish I would have gotten in on the ground floor.

Classic WoW is great for the people who want the experience, but current wow is not pay to win. You can boost to 100, but the level cap is 110, you have to level yo urself to 110 and get gear to raid

I'd be all over an official Blizzard sanctioned vanilla and/or Burning Crusade server with modern class balance and DF/RF.

Vanilla and BC was amazing. After BC, developers dumbed the game down too much

Gameplay wise, yes. But WotLK was by far the best storyline and most fun for questing. The scenery and music were simply amazing too.

I would do it but I'm not going the private server route after nostlarius again. I spent so much time gearing my resto shaman only to be denied a few weeks before BWL was released. So, if Blizz released one I'll for sure go back.

I absolutely loved the Classic/BC/WotLK times. It was probably my favorite times in any game... ever, but I have no desire to play the private servers. It's a part of the games past. I would rather play current content that's supported by Blizzard.
If someone gave me a time machine and let me go back and start over, I would, because the people I played with made most of the experience.

I would never rule out the release of an official private server until WoW shuts down, but Blizzard really seems dead set against the idea. I think the biggest deterent is that they don't want to admit in any way to their fanbase that some people don't see current WoW as superior to the old game.
The other problem is class balance. Every time WoW releases an expansion, class balance is completely redone. It would be difficult to envision a classic server using class balance from the Legion expansion, but at the same time, I don't think Blizzard would ever put so much work into a classic server as to make the mechanics what they were prior to the expansions. What is most likely is just some form of level locked server, where you can't advance beyond 60 or 70.

We actually had a guild on Gorefiend that would take players on BWL raids and give them epics.....for the right price. I think Invictus was their name

When I look at the "pay to win" win concept, I think of it as paying to give a competitive edge in the game.
There are "carry" groups all the time that will carry others for a price, doesn't make you play better though. Sure, you can pay to have someone run you through a dungeon and can gain an edge by getting better equipment, but equipment isn't guaranteed.

No doubt. I just thought it was hilarious that some guy would pay $100+ for a piece of Wrath, Felheart, Judgement, Bloodfang, Dragonstalker, or some other T2.
I tried to remember all of the other T2 names and failed.

You say that until you have to keep your entire bank full with resist gear and one-dungeon items. Old game was great, but boy there have been some great changes since then.
