You really have to get to the end game to start to like it with the current state of the game. To be blunt, leveling sucks right now for new players. I have a hard time selling the game to friends who try it because they get bored after a while of leveling. The grind just isn't quite the same as it used to be, more of a chore.
I'm not a new player.
This game is old as time.
WoW just is not an MMO which really pulled me in like CoH, EQ and SWG.
Edt: Like someone said earlier. Lvling is easier than ever in all these MMOs. Maxing out a character in the older days was a true badge of honor.

They nerf the XP required and the difficulty of dungeons. You can pretty much faceroll dungeons for XP until you hit the current content.
Reminds me of playing EQ and grinding mobs in groups all day.

I don't understand this at all. Leveling is easier than it has ever been.
I didn't say it was hard. It's extremely easy.
With heirloom gear, you can either mindlessly run dungeons or do quests. If you choose the quest route you don't get to the end of many quests because you out gear the content and not getting xp worth the trouble.
I find it very tedious to level another character. I usually like to make sure I have every class to max level and some decent gear before the next expansion, but I don't know if I can suffer through the Broken Isles one more time. I could do invasions but there hasn't been one up when I've been on recently.

Anyone played shroud of the avatar? New richard garriott game?
I'm basically still holding out hope that UO gets a legit successor updated into the 3rd person perspective that has the gameplay of UO.

I played a ton of WoW, always fun to dive back into it. Give GW2 a try too, I love that game.

Logging on every day to speak with buddies and complete quests/lvl alts/raid are my favorite gaming experiences.
MMOs are never coming back.. sadly.

Why do you say that about mmos?
The community was the biggest thing I liked about my UO days. Both osi and freeshards later on.

What?
I agree. From what I said how do you not see the community around the MMO is what makes the MMO?

And yes MMOs are dead. They aren't the same. Ppl are tired of WoW but its the only option out there.

I haven't played an mmo in probably 9 years. Played lotro until just before the first expansion. I was just asking why you had those thoughts.

Right there with you pal.
Satr Wars Galaxies (Pre CU) is still 1 but COH is 1a
It annoys me to this day that they canned a stable and profitable game like that.

Yeah I can see a lot of people are tired of MMOs but I'm kind of excited to see how active the vanilla servers will be after they are released. I'm sure it won't last very long but, the world PvP should be awesome.

I refuse to purchase NCSoft products.

I never said ppl are tired of MMOs. Ppl are just tired of WoW. WoW is the most popular one but a lot of MMOers preferred SWG or EQ. Myself it was SWG and CoH. WoW was the only thing out there when those games went to shtt

Oh you said MMOs are dead so I figured you were meaning people were tired of them.

There will definitely be a huge difference in Day 1 population vs Day 365 but with all of the people who have been playing on Lights Hope, Nostralius, etc. for years I think it will have a dedicated player base. As for the current game leveling is a pain but end game dungeons and raids are as good as ever (maybe even more so with the M+ system), and Legion’s version of daily quests aren’t too much of a chore.

Yeah I think it will have a healthy population. Legion has done some things well but, the legendary system has left a lot to be desired.
