Revising my estimate - 2032 at the absolute earliest.

I really hope he gets back to his old self, but I'm doubtful.
MGS1-3 are some of the most innovative and cutting edge titles ever, and it's been a deep downhill descent ever since. Could not stand Death Stranding despite trying so hard to like it

I played through this entire game, and never understood the appeal. It was fun driving around once I could make roads and stuff, but the combat segments with the shadow creatures were completely boring. Game quickly became tedious but I felt like I had to finish it because of all the hype. I was sure something cool would eventually happen. It didn't.

He has gone from using Hollywood as an inspiration for his game development projects to using his success as a game developer as an excuse to make star studded passion projects with marginal consumer appeal so he can hang out with actors he likes.
I think it's a similar issue that other auteur types encounter. You eventually get successful enough where there is nobody who can tell you no. And enough of the consumer base will buy the product on name recognition alone, even if the product isn't as good as what came before. It can take decades for the wheels to come off.

The story was a mess but MGS 5 gameplay was an incredible stealth action sandbox.. I still go back to it from time to time as nothing since has matched it as far as fun stealth game play. Never bothered with Death stranding as it looked boring as shite.

A former Microsoft veteran has criticized Xbox CEO Asha Sharma over how the company is handling layoffs and communicating with employees.
She also criticized Sharma's social media posts about her trip to Japan, including a visit to Hideo Kojima's studio
“Please, Asha, publish more ‘cool’ photos from your Japan Kojima-maxxing trip. That’s the kind of leadership game developers need.”
Shannon Loftis, who worked at Microsoft for 29 years and previously led World's Edge, questioned Sharma's statement that "clarity is kindness," especially after layoffs affected people at Xbox studios.
"For those impacted, particularly World's Edge people – you are SO much more than this."
You can clearly see how mad is she, even deleted the comments

This chick sounds insane. XBOX was in Japan for the Tokyo Game Show. This reaction makes it seem like she had no clue that was going on and just focused on Asha meeting with Kojima while there. Comes off like a jealous schoolgirl, just like the guy who posted it here.
