Just bought an Xbox series S

Got an Series S for my birthday. Turning 50 and have not played games for about 19 years. Last game I invested time in was Ultima Online and Counter Strike PC games. I picked up Halo and playing that one. My son has a game pass so I am using his account. Any other good game series that I can play. I like FBS and Role-play games. Any advice?

I'd go Fallout 3 -> Fallout New Vegas -> Fallout 4
If paying, I'd also do Red Dead Redemption 1 and then RDR 2
I'm kinda jealous you are about to get to play these for the first time

Rainbow Six Siege. Its tough for a newbie but one of the best team based FPS out there.
Hellblade. Its a totally surreal experience..play with headphones.
The Ascent. Sci fi twin stick shooter/RPG (kinda like a cyberpunk Diablo) and probably the most pure fun I've had with a game all year
Mass Effect Trilogy. If you like RPGs then def dont miss out out this one.

I would stop playing Halo Infinite and download Halo MCC. This is assuming you are not to far in Halo Infinite.
Start and Halo 1 and play though all 6. It is one of the coolest overall stories in the gaming world. Unless you have ego problems, play through on easy or normal and enjoy the game. The only thing Legendary play gets you is some extra gamer points and extra cut scenes at the end that will not really be relevant and can be watched on youtube.
The Ori games are worth a quick play as well just for fun, as is the Guacamelee game (might not be there now). Those are simple platform games, will not take too much time and really fun to play.
Gears is still fun, but I stopped after Gears 3.
Nier Automata is still on Game pass and that is a for sure one to play
Forza Horizon is nice driving game that is not too serious.
Flight Simulator is also on game pass. It is worth a download just to fly over your house and some major monuments and parks.
If you have not played GTA5, then find it cheap somewhere. It has appeared on game pass before, but not there now. Although there is a remaster in the works for this gen consoles, so maybe wait.

if youre into the mnetroidvania these are solid req's
i will also second previous post about the mass effect games. mass effect 2 is up there with all time great games.
