Don't you have another CoD thread to start?

Posted on 7/29/24 at 10:33 pm to sicboy
Yeah I don’t remember any uproar at all during that. Especially not so much where Ubisoft wrote a 4 page apology (or a 4 page letter saying we are doing it, deal with it as you say). Probably because that main character wasn’t a real person.

But what's behind a lot of these questions is what's ugly.
Why are the people questioning it the only ones with ulterior motives which is the insinuation here? Are all the people bagging on this decision racist?

Except the last time there was this much of an uproar it was because they made a "black" Egyptian as a playable character.
This is the first I've heard of this.

You don't think the cultural/political environment is a lot different now from when Origins released, more vitriolic, to the point where Ubisoft wrongly felt they needed to respond?

That wasn't the insinuation if you actually listen. He said, and I agreed, that having the discussion is fine, but it's not hard to see what's driving a lot of it, regardless of what you tell yourself.

and here's another one

I’m not telling myself anything. You’re the one telling me that the people who are skeptical are doing it for nefarious reasons. It’s equally not hard to see what Ubisoft is doing is hogwash and racist itself.

B
bingo.

No I don’t think they wrongly needed. I think they are in damage control mode. You either don’t read well or have trouble with retention because that’s been asked and answered.
Of course the political environment is different than back then but almost assuredly if they had made the main PCs both Japanese, we wouldn’t be having this discussion at all.

Why do you keep bringing this up? None of the main PCs in any AC games up until this year have been based on historical characters. Do you get it? Do you know what PC means vs NPC?

I can’t believe this thread is still going
Irrespective of the DEI nonsense the game looks like total shite and I’ve already said it once Ghost and Sekiro have already provided this and both are top of their class.

This thread has been quite entertaining, but something here is off.
You bump what is basically a dead thread to revive this argument, one that sicboy is using quite successfully I might add, to troll the folks over here.
Why? And what a strange way to start a post
Perhaps someone is using an alter in order to stoke the flames in this thread?

Problem is DEI isn't this awful monster that everyone makes it to be. Like with everything, there are some that will take it overboard, but celebrating and acknowledging these things isn't bad and it blows my mind that it's become this stain no society for a lot of people.
My company celebrates DEI (we're based in Fort Worth), has a large DEI committee, one of my good friends in my office is in charge of the DEI committee here in Tampa, and the events they hold are just opportunities to recognize people for their differences, get to know them more, learn new things, to see things outside of your sphere of existence, "I really didn't know that about you, that's cool", and I can't fathom why that's a bad thing. The people that whine about things being "forced" are simply people that can't handle when it's not about them. When I hear crap like "what about white history month", it's so fricking cringe because you're essentially talking about every other day of the year. You've convinced yourself into thinking it's about telling you that being white is bad, when at it's core it is about recognizing other people as well, including them, because the truth is it's not going to happen on it's own. We'll keep doing the same things over and over unless people make an effort.

Except not a single person has said anything about the main character not being white.

It’s the attempts at re writing real world actual history to make every attempt at propping up this trash fire that irks me the most tbh. Valhalla made a lot of money but that game sucked badly. Assassins creed hasnt actually been good in a while and again they’re 10 years too late on this game, even if they had the talent and mindset to make it properly. Which they don’t.
