Is Red Dead Redemption 2 still a buggy mess on steam?

I want to get it but it seems like people are still having a lot of problems with crashes and the game freezing

Check the reddit. I haven't even logged in for a month now due to lack of animal spawns, crashes, camp not pitching even they added spawn into camp.

It was fine for me. Crashed twice in 62 hours. (Story only)

turn off a lot of the post processing stuff, ramp down the AA etc. If it's similar to gta 5 they should have a little slider showing how much graphical requirements your particular settings are using

Played story mode a couple of months ago and it worked fine for me.

Last time i played a hacker spawned me in a field and hog tied me. Then would kill me in some odd way. He did it 4 times in a row before i quit. So, i haven't logged back on in a while.
