I caught the game on sale over a year ago(after things improved) and tried multiple times to get into it but never making it past the first mission(nude chick in the tub). I wasn’t a fan of the stealth/hacking aspect and just assumed it was a major part of the game in order to progress.

This time around I forced myself to keep pushing through a bit more just to give it a fair chance. I decided I’d just go guns blazing for everything I did and not worry so much about stealth. After the events of the Patricide….I was hooked.

Truthfully I haven’t progressed the main story that much since and instead have spent hours up on hours doing all the side quest. It’s become an addiction.

I can tell I’m a bit overpowered for where I am in the story as I just melt everything I come across and I’m just burning through eddies because I have more than I need.

The city is so well done on top of a stellar soundtrack. It is all quite pleasing.

I will definitely be purchasing the DLC as seems it takes the game to the next level.

I really need to dive into this. I think I've started and stopped it like 4 times.

I'm a stealth guy so I wonder if those mechanics aren't just fleshed out well?

I just find it difficult honestly. Like every time I try I get busted and end up in a fire fight anyways. I think it’s fleshed out but just a challenge and a drag for me. I upgrade my hacking a little here and there just so I can hack a few things for money or to get into a room or two that might have good loot.

I decided just to take borderlands approach. Kill and loot for good guns/money to buy good guns and it’s changed the game drastically for me.

I haven’t played since the update, but in the original release, hacking was akin to being a wizard in other games, DND, etc, in that you start out being able to mildly piss off your enemies and eventually get to the point in which you can melt entire compounds full of elite enemies without breaking a sweat.

Interesting.

I will likely consider another play through and if I do I will attp the hacking route.

Keep in mind that I haven’t played since the PL update, though. I know they’ve made massive changes to combat in general.

It's a completely different game than when it came out.

If it were to release today in the state that it's in, it would be in contention for GOTY

I’d agree. It is one of the more enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had.

A katana with high reflexes makes you feel like Vader in the hallway scene

They dialed the power of hacking way down. It was god tier way before the end of the game. Now they can always track you. End game, you are still powerful but nothing like the original.

You also need to learn how to use combinations of hacks to get fully powered. So combos mixed with the correct perks to get super powerful.

It takes a good bit more work than before. You used to be able to walk up and just decimate everything with hacking. Not anymore. You need a combination of hacking with gunplay or melee until you get your skills maxed out.

Offf…I just got a katana actually and my reflex skill is one of my priorities. May have to give this a shot.

Also my favorite star wars scene ever is that one in Rogue One.

It was easily my game of the year when it came out. I had almost zero problems with any quests and the random cars blowing up added to the immersion. Hell, shootouts occurring on the streets, of course cars are going to blow up.

The cop nonsense was blown out of proportion. Show me any game where the cops chasing you was good. Most games the cops are over leveled so all you do is run away. Sure the teleporting cops were BS but I almost NEVER had cops chasing me. As long as you don't end a hostage scenario with a grenade killing the hostage, I almost never had cops after me. In fact, I think the cops work worse now because they get pissed even when you kill bad guys.

I had a beefy PC so I had no problems other than the very first quest needing a PC restart. After that, smooth sailing for me.

I’m glad the cops don’t really bother me unless I get a little to close with my car.

I could do without the cops all together and it would still be a top tier game.

Yeah I didn't have the same technical problems as xbox and ps owners, it just didn't hold my attention like I thought it would. It felt so empty for the potential it had.

They've definitely since realized that potential

Are you playing on PC or console? If console, condolences.

If PC, run through it fully, then mod the frick out of it and run it again. It becomes so much more fun.

ETA: Yes, the katana is fun. The knife is funner (is that a word?...screw it).

The PS5 version. But this would be one of those Skyrim type games for me. Once I finally upgrade the PC it’s likely another purchase lol will probably do my second play through on PC.

I keep a spare knife in the inventory just in case. But haven’t use a single melee weapon yet..

However I just got a dildo that does major crit damage so I may have to give it a shot soon.

Pretty much have been running Sniper, precision rifle that set fools on fire, and a sub that fires wicked fast and does shock dmg.

Pretty fun game. Really enjoyed my time with it. Be careful of burn out from side quests , though.
