Seeing EA continue to not give a flying frick about their consumers and keep dreaming up ways to nickel and dime them out of their money only highlights how they won’t change. But I wish they would, because they could make some fricking awesome Star Wars games if they cared about their art.

But their continued hubris does at least highlight the difference between a true devil in the industry (EA, Activision) and a company that made mistakes but at least gives a frick (Microsoft.)

Since the, rightfully, most mocked start to a console generation in history, Microsoft has done everything in their power to slowly reverse course. Starting at the top with leadership and their cronies.

Then reinvesting in new studios and vowing not to interfere as they have in the past, then doing pro consumer options such as game pass and mouse and keyboard support.

It’s true that Xbox isn’t out of woods yet and Halo Infinite probably HAS to be good for the franchise to continue but it does highlight a cultural shift at Microsoft that is not present at EA.

I wish EA had the guts to just admit their mistakes and start over. Admit you fricked up and show some humility and listen to the fans.

Well, y’all keep buying their crap.

Why would they stop doing what they are doing?

It isn’t like it is hurting them.

Hell, people are refusing to believe that Anthem won’t be filled with microtransactions, despite EA’s history.

Why would any company change their ways when they have a consumer base as moronic as EA’s?

Anthem isn't going to have micros but... some garbage cosmetics leaked today and have absolutely ridiculous prices.

I wouldn't be surprised if they backtrack on the loot boxes when people balk at the truly lame cosmetics and ridiculous prices.

$12 bucks for an emote.
$20 bucks for a shitty skin. The two leaked skins looked like garbage.

I swear, y’all fall for the same bullshite over and over again.

Why do y’all believe people associated with EA?

How many times will y’all believe the same lies?

I know nothing about it. Just watched the video with CrazyJoe stating EA had stated there would be no loot boxes.

I think some companies are getting a bit worried about gambling lawsuits and potential criminal problems down the road. Not saying it is the case with EA but one of the big games just removed the gambling aspect of their loot boxes so some companies are getting spooked.

EA may be going the test the cosmetics to see if we can make the same money. It won't work and if you actually finished reading my post, I said they might change their tune when they realized they won't make anything close to the loot box income from crappy cosmetics.

They are still putting ridiculous loot boxes in FIFA (only difference now is that odds on drawing certain types of players are displayed) and I presume they will continue to do so in their other sports titles I don’t play.

These companies, particularly EA, will continue to push the envelope as far as they can with this bullshite until they face legal reprimand.

I wouldn’t count on a decent EA made Star Wars title for a long time, if ever.

RIP in peace Lucasarts.

Micro transactions in Black Ops 4 absolutely blow my mind.

A new gun camo is $7
A new character skin that you can buy costs $15 or 1500 “COD points”. I mean what the frick, a worthless meaningless skin costs 1/4th of the actual game?

How did we get here and why have we come to just let this be?

Because businesses want to maximize profits. Selling a $60 game wasn't cutting it. In the $60 game they have to include a store that sells $7 guns, $15 skins, and add ons for additional $15 which brings in more cash for the company.

The problem is we keep buying it. I agree it ruins the enjoyment of the game when you're bombarded with sales, but we still keep buying it. It doesn't cost the developers additional money to put a price on things that should have already come with the full $60 game.

The only way this will end is if we stop buying these games.

Idiots will buy it and then turn around and complain about EA’s practices.

And....it doesn't even look good and doesn't have any fancy particle effects.

Hell, at least with Path of Exile some of their cosmetics look cool and have all sorts of wild effects.

EA is trying to make loot money on cosmetics and it isn't going to happen. Especially with crappy cosmetics.

$12 for a single emote.

I've got not problems with microtransactions. I'm glad the base game hasn't gone over 60.

I literally haven't bought anything in destiny 2 and don't intend to. It's not in my way and it doesn't effect my gameplay. I don't have to buy it.

Fortnite is different. It's a free game and the skins are absolutely not needed. They even have a system to refund 3 purchases. However, I have bought a few because I want them to keep doing good things and I like the skins.

Fortnite can charge $100/skin and I would have no problem with it.

Honestly, I don't see a problem with any company trying to make money on skins. As long as there is no pay to win elements, I see no problem with it.

Loot boxes on the other hand, that's where companies can go frick themselves

Outside of their yearly sports titles which are relatively unaffected unless you love Ultimate Team (I personally never touch that mode), EA has been garbage this console generation.

I truly think they would be better off focusing exclusively on mobile titles as that's exactly the only kind of game they seem interested in attempting to make for PC/console these days.

Escalating game production costs, research on psychology, and the need to maximize profits at every turn.

A big time triple AAA release is basically a movie production at this point with the amount of people involved.

It's unsustainable long term. This is why so many studios have shut down and what games that do get released are largely re-hashes of what has been done before.
