Like online multi-player tournaments? idk, I feel like this would lead to some kind of lootbox bullshite which would ruin the experience.

I am doing a long overdue replay right now, and Northern Realms has always been the best deck from what I can remember. Just got to Kaer Morhen and about to go to Isle of Mists, so I should be close to finishing the Collect em All achievement. Unless I messed up and forgot a missable card in early game. Oh shite, I think I might have I don't know much about the expansion cards or the Skellige deck since I didn't have the 2 DLCs on my last playthrough. Looking forward to playing through these and MOAR Gwent.
The northern realms deck is my favorite, because it’s the most consistent. Unless you have absolute shite luck, your spies will give you the advantage, and then you can use what’s his face’s leader ability at the end to clear any weather nonsense, if needed.
Both the monster and skellige decks can put up big numbers, but they require luck to do so, with monster being better.
Put another way, all things equal with luck, northern realms will likely win if played well. But if a monster deck draws lucky, like in my tournament post, it can put up absolutely stupid, unbeatable scores. But those are rare.

no no, just npc storyline driven tournaments. like each little town is having tourneys and maybe at some point theirs a grand championship.
i wouldnt be opposed to them introducing some online type thing separate from the W4 proper. i dont have much interst in that personally.

I'm out of the loop. Has CDPR announced this??
Yep
official announcement from a couple of years ago

And that image prompted a lot of fans to wonder if CDPR was potentially going in the direction of a Witcher fan fiction regarding the school of the lynx: LINK
quote:
Eskel, continuing his role as the last active member of the School of the Wolf, marched east, and his fate afterward became unknown. Geralt eventually retired in Toussaint. Lambert, marching south and accompanied by his lover Keira Metz, embarked on a quest for a new life. It was through Lambert's eventual crossing of paths with this group of survivors that the School of the Lynx eventually came into existence.

ght now im more concerned about them finding a protagonist as good as geralt.
Just saw a report yesterday that ciri may be the main protagonist for W4. I hope not.

Short sequence playable Ciri was already a disaster in TW3, as she’s incredibly powerful by the end of the books, and there’s just no way to manage that in a game. Which meant they nerfed the frick out of her, which was incredibly lame. They just need to leave that alone.
I very much hope they do something akin the the school of the lynx, whether Lambert (I hope not, though there’s depth there), or some young and hungry with Lambert and Metz being mentors.

Bruh Witcher 4 is at the very earliest a launch title for next gen almost certainly later than that. They’ve burnt through pretty much the author had left for them to work with which means way more time building more characters lore and the quaily that brand is now associated with and they’re making a cyberpunk sequel + remaking Witcher 1 (now ESG approved) at the same time. I imagine School of the Linx which is the games working title is slated first but they won’t move most dev till about a year out. I am guessing 4 year away if they intend to maintain the brand image they worked so hard to obtain through Witcher 3.
But as to if it will have gwent I highly doubt it. Most people who would somewhat know anything about it seem to indicate they’re going far back in time 2-300 years from Witcher 1-3 or as I’ve heard it most said “when the witchers were out the height of their power.” So idk if they can make it sense with that framework and they’d need a whole new deck of characters no one would even know.
I’ve heard many postulations on how they could take it. Some want an elden ring style character creator but I think that would fit this game type very poorly. Best idea I’ve seen put forth yet is the Linx school was big but somehow got lost to time and we just inhabit the new main character there. I think their choice of Linx is indicative too at least of their preferred armor and fighting style since it’s a bit of mix between a wolf and a cat. Most likely the two most popular Witcher sets in 3 unless you got manticore in blood and wine. Viper absolutely nuked everything prior to their first euphoria nerf then the next gen update essentially made maniticore hybrid euphoria/aard build objectively the meta best build. Game is built to play and have fun however ya want though.

Unrelated, playing through Hearts of Stone expansion for the first time and, WTF the difficulty of the boss fights is cranked up to....well existence, I guess
Totally different pace from main story.

It’s been years, but I remember having to look up what the frick the deal was with that fricking frog. I don’t remember what the strat/gimmick is, but I remember it not being terribly difficult once I knew what it was. Ungainly fricking bastard, though.
Really great DLC, though. It plays second fiddle to Blood and Wine, but that’s only because B&W is among the best DLC in history. HoS is really, really excellent in its own right.

Yes, frick that frog.
Yrden seems to be the only thing that works to slow him down long enough to get some damage in.

The storyline in HoS is way better than Blood and Wine, but damn that DLC gave us a new map and Gwent deck. It could've been a separate game it was so great.

Again, it's been a while, but scrolling through some old help threads and seeing what people suggest, I think I went heavy with signs, yrden/quen/igni. That was long before I got into Souls games, so I doubt I went toe to toe with the bastard in melee, as that likely would have been outside of my skillset.

Fundamentally misunderstands what makes the Witcher cool. Has shown disdain for source material and no ability to world build. Why do these people always fail upwards?
