Aside from the n64 I cannot remember a console with good games available at launch
I will wait at least a year after launch before I pickup my ps4 unless there are games that are just crazy good.

Titanfall, The Division, and Destiny are the only games that have me really excited for next gen.

I went through and added all the games Id want to buy over the first couple months of the Xbone and it was not a price I liked to see

SNES - Super Mario World
Dreamcast - Soul Calibur
Gamecube - Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Xbox - Halo
Wii - Twilight Princess
I'm not saying you aren't right to hold out but a console's launch titles can have some the best games of the system's life.

You also act like how good a game can be is not a direct reflection on the studio heads.
Bioshock would be shite without someone like Ken Levine writing and directing it. That guy could make a good game no matter where he worked. It's why Hollywood is begging him to write scripts and get involved in the movie business.
Some people just have that sort of talent and I think Jason West and Vince Zampella have that sort of talent in making a good FPS.

That game was a lot of fun. I remember back when *that* was the game that showed you how powerful your PC was. It's funny to look back on it now and see how simplistic the graphics are.
I got it for free with my beast of a machine when I was a Sophmore in HS

Oh it certainly can, but there is no guarantee it would have the previous quality with a different studio.
As you can see I wasn't that informed on the circumstances of Jason West and Vince Zampella leaving Infinity Ward.
I haven't heard much about Titanfall, but I watched the E3 demo and it looked pretty good. I wish it didn't have regenerating health though. I'm a bigger fan of health bar and medkits.

once again I feel the need to clarify. I misspoke, I am thinking in terms of the quantity of awesome games. I will not buy a ps4 because of one game, but if there are 3-4 awesome games, I would pull the trigger or even one awesome game with 3-4 more down the road in a couple of months.
for ps3, the games I have that I consider quality are
arkham asylum
arkham city
uncharted
uncharted 2
uncharted 3
the last of us
red dead redemption
i have a feeling gtav and arkham origins make this list, but that is the kind of quality I will want when/if purchasing a new console. N64 just had a shitload of awesome games right off the bat, maybe not at launch but I mean available when most people purchased it as a new system.
wayne gretzky's hockey, goldeneye, shadows of the empire, ocarina of time, etc. if i remember correctly were all realeased 3-5 months after launch. Alot of people got one for crimmus and I think all of those games were available by then.
