I was looking at twitch rankings and noticed RuneScape was the 19th most watched game.

Wtf? I always thought this Game basically died like ten years ago after some unpopular updates. I always viewed it as a game for middle school boys. Guess not.

To each their own, but I don’t get it.

When Mobile came out, I grinded a little bit. The rise of it is that they came out with an oldschool (2007, lol) platform 7 or so years back. Then about 6-7 months ago they came out with a mobile version and they had a major spike in players

Isn’t it a big indictment of your update decisions when you make an entire game that is based on gameplay BEFORE those updates because demand is so high? Lol

I think some people here do play it. Yeah.

Gotta give Jagex credit. I was just as surprised as you when I realized runescape is still that fricking popular. And this was in 2013. Freakin 2019 and it's still top20 on twitch.

Yes I hop back in every few months and I love it. I play RS3, not old school. There have been a ton of new updates over the years. Most recently was the mining/smithing rework which is what brought me back to the game last month.

They’re doing a thing with twitch prime starting next week where you can 2 weeks free membership if you have twitch prime (basically amazon prime account linked to twitch).

My old account is long gone but I made a new one when mobile came out as a friend still plays it. Been enjoying it again as they have so much more content than when I played a decade ago

I think I played for 3 or 4 months a couple of years ago. Updated with too many bosses that require a team.

Last time I played, player owned port armor was still some of the best so I spent a few months grinding out the ports stuff that I never did when it first came out.

Did some more slayer. Just too much of a grind. Some of the newer bosses are just ridiculous and not worth the risk. Not at all.

I spent an insane amount of time from 2004 to 2009 playing. I'll never play another MMORPG again. So if I get the bug, I'll still play Runescape to remind me why I shouldn't play Runescape.

Tried playing it last summer for old times sake but the pace of the game is so slow by modern standards I just couldn’t get into it. Almost roped a couple friends into joining me before I threw in the towel.

Used to play the hell out of this game from around 5th grade till 9th grade and I wasn’t even that good
