The latest talking about the game is Rep. Marcus Evans Jr. out of Chicago, who is seeking to amend a law that dates back to 2012 and prevents certain video games from being purchased by minors.

Last week, the lawmaker filed HB3531, an amendment that wants to not just ban the sale of games featuring “psychological harm" and carjackings to minors, but to adults as well. According to Evans, these types of games promote criminal activities, which in turn, hurt the community. “The bill would prohibit the sale of some of these games that promote the activities that we’re suffering from in our communities," said Evans. Adding to this, Early Walker -- the founder of Operation Safe Pump, and who has worked with Evans Jr. on the bill -- says GTA 5, in particular, has become an issue.

In addition to banning the sale of games that fall under the aforementioned criteria, the bill would also change the definition of what a "violent video game" is, or more specifically, to the following: “control a character within the video game that is encouraged to perpetuate human-on-human violence in which the player kills or otherwise causes serious physical or psychological harm to another human or an animal.”

This is like the 50th time people have tried and it won't happen. Rockstar has generated billions in revenue from GTA and you can bet they'll put up a fight.

Humans have been violent since the beginning of our existence and banning games isn't going to change that.

Studies aren't conclusive that games make people more violent. Some show the opposite because games are a safe outlet for aggression.

Yes lets ban a video game that shows violence and not only commend "protestors" that destroyed businesses and caused actual violence but show it live on TV and call it courageous.....make sense

human-on-human
Behold! The dawn of the all humanoid games.

Not humans any more, elves, bionic beings, humanoid robots imitating humans (mimics), etc.. Just a few lines of coding to change the wording and selections become no longer "human".

Every tech company will join together to fight that.

Microsoft
Sony
Google
Facebook

Any company making games.

Do they know that popular games that are pretty good STEM teaching tools that are popular with middleschoolers (and younger) would be covered by this? I'm thinking Minecraft and Oxygen Not Included right off the bat.

So pixels are supposed to be treated the same as actual reality now? I hate these people so much.

It’s already sold 140 million copies. What are they going to do, bust into peoples homes and take their copy away?
