Once I tried light armor + shield backpack, I never went back to Guard Dog Rover.

That's quite a claim. (and now I'm watching the clock until I can get home and try it

you will be converted.
you do have to get use to the loss of sheer clearing power of little adds without the rover and get use to a more mobile stick move offense but its much better.

I gotta be honest, so far I'm not really enjoying the gameplay over Hard. Maybe I'm just having bad luck with squads, but it's just a complete shitshow on Extreme so far.

I tried it but I am not ready. You definitely cannot just run around doing whatever the hell you want. Squad tactics and a mic are necessary

Doesn't help that they don't level gate at all. I've started up missions at level 16 on Extreme with people under level 10. Never have a chance with that.

The times I was going to try I've ran into that as well

I jumped into the beginning of a 3/4 trivial mission last night, the other three were a level 1, level 7 and level 12 (I'm currently level 16).
They ran ahead while I called down my support. They had almost completely cleaned out the refueling site by the time I got there. So far, so good.
They didn't seem to understand what to do with the controls (or even that they had to access them) so I did the majority of that while they ran through and around the site. Not good, but not really bad.
Objective complete, I head back to the extraction site. Once I start heading that way, they turned into lemmings and followed me. Not bad.
We get to the site and again they are running around like they are guarding the place instead of interacting with the console so I set the extraction timer then drop a sentry at an opening. Enemies spawn, a drop ship drops some enemies, we fight them off and then the extraction ship announces it is about to land. One of the party members dies, I don't see it until right as I board. The other 2 party members are nowhere on the landing pad so I figure maybe at least one is calling in reinforcements as they head towards the extraction.
Nope. I was the only one on the ship when it took off. No idea where the other two were and they still hadn't called in the reinforcement.
I've been involved in a couple of instances where players die right as we're about to lift off, but this is the first for me to see two simply not get on the extraction ship because they went off elsewhere to do other things.

yes and no. ive run quite a few successful helldive levels with no mic teams. just need good map ping communication and usually identify one leader.
that being said its a shite ton easier with mics. The number of times i had to turn my mic one to tell the dipshit to stop fighting a continual horde and to move on to the next objective is staggering.

Challenging seems to be the sweet spot for me where the game is still a lot of fun and not too stressful.
Although on one run last night I had a team of lower-leveled players doing a "destroy all eggs" mission and instead of destroying the eggs and leaving they hung around to fight like 4 bug breaches. We had like 6 Chargers running all over the place with Brood Commanders and some Stalkers.
We couldn't call in any eagles because everyone was so tightly grouped (I probably should have called in a strike, killed them all, and just reinforced them away from the shite show, but I hate killing teammates). No one had mics on either, but I should have turned mine on and been like, "Let's GTFO of here!" There's no point hanging out and fighting against bug breaches once the eggs are destroyed!
I finally just started running towards the Extraction Point and they eventually followed.
Just absolute chaos
ETA: Love that caro just posted about the same issue I had

I also didn't know for a bit that some hordes will spawn endlessly, and I also get frustrated now when some people dig in and think they can just clear the endless horde.

True stuff here. I think it's so ingrained in some people to clear areas that they don't realize the better option is to clear enough to distract and then bail.
Also a hallmark of new players is running full bore into nests moments after you throw an airstrike beacon then getting obliterated. Or calling their own airstrikes right on top of your entire team.

Maybe the devs need to give us bonus XP for clearing bug breaches and then at least I'll get something for hanging with a crew and clearing 273845 different bug breaches while continually running out of ammo

I don't understand why players don't sprint the hell away when they see the giant red beam!
I'm also struggling with turret placement. I feel like as soon as I put one down, someone throws in an eagle/orbital that obliterates it.

Has anyone else gotten stuck in the geography? I got stuck within the branches of some barren tree sitting between two hills too tall to scale. I tried going through the branches of the tree, but it stuck me there. I finally had to blow myself by dropping a grenade at my feet.

got stuck under the evac ship once
get stuck under dead bio titans occasionally.

New stuff coming
Youtuber discussing new weapons (with stats), new 6-slot supply backpack, displacer back piece (teleports you?) and footage of the new recon vehicle (mounted weapon, possibly 50-cal, will hold at least two players from the video) and the mechs (although not as much video for that as the recon vehicle).

Yeah there are a lot of noobs playing right now and it's going to take awhile for game knowledge to catch up with general play. If the goal is to win, people need to learn to play the objectives and stop getting hung up on killing everything. I find also that if you have a team get hung up on an endless pack, just start running towards the next objective and ping

What game can helldivers 2 be compared to?
Why are so many people playing it?
Should I buy it?

Does anyone want to play, hoping on now. I'm a noob, but I do communicate and listen.
