Bit of a curveball: Elvarg the dragon from Runescape. Terrified me when I was young.

not really a traditional "boss," but the tank wave mission in MGS V was probably the most frustrating section of game ive ever played. frick that garbage.

but id vote Sister Friede. might be more doable now that ive got more expierence in the series, but at the time it was legit impossible for me. still have never solo'd her.

There's an optional boss in FFXV that takes almost a full hour to beat in real time.

there's an optional boss in KH 1 that I could never beat, it was this yellow and red round thing in the dessert.

Marauder Shields

edit... The hardest was one of the "Splinter Cell" games with a "press E" boss. I couldn't press E fast enough, so I had to download an autoclicker to win.

Ornstein and Smough is overrated in difficulty because people run away constantly. The key to the the fight or really any fight where there are multiple enemies in dark souls is to stay relatively close to one of them so you can take advantage of their openings.

I'd say Nameless King from DS3 is a much harder boss.

Ornstein and Smough was a tough fight as some have said.

I really didn't think these guys were very difficult. Just Dodge one long enough to kill the other. Wasn't nearly as difficult as people made it out to be.

Kurt Zisa

Honestly, the only dissapointing part about KH3, in my view, is that no difficult optional bosses exist. I couldn't believe it.

Just seeing this. I don't check this board much unless I am actually at work.

quote:

I understand that but if you didn't know the exact directions or exploits that were available on the internet, it was hard. I went into that match with no knowledge on how to beat him and never looked online for anything.

Sure. I am not saying he is not hard. I am just saying when comparing it to something that takes actual skill, the weapons should not be in the discussion for hardest boss ever.

quote:

Dark souls you could easily tell him the exact counters and such to look for and to do it. Skills going through the game is the exact same thing as getting the right inventory and skills to fight the weapons. Not saying it's easy though as it's obviously hard but the reasoning is still there.

If I told whomever how to counter O&S it would still take trial and error for them and at least a decent amount of gaming skill. It is not the same as learning how to prepare for a turned based RPG fight. Once again this is my opinion. I am not trying to persuade you to change how you feel about it. But you are not changing my mind, so no need to rebuttal.

quote:

I never said it was that impressive.

I never said you did. Everything I have said is my opinion. I was not telling you anything about how you should feel.

quote:

To kind of prove it was tough, if you look up how to beat emerald weapon, you see a video with 300k views from 4 years ago. It was obviously tough as a lot of people wanted to know how to beat a particular boss that was around in '97 and still pretty popular 20 years later.

It is FF7, that game was iconic. You could also look up super mario 64 boss fight and see more views.
quote:

I didn't play a lot of solo games so there are obviously harder bosses but it was hard to a lot of people. Stop with the high and mighty on this subject. It's opinionated anyway.

This post is all sorts of funny because I have stated over and over that it is my opinion. You are the one who took offense for some reason.

Possibly. I think O&S was an introduction for a lot of people to this type of combat. Nameless came around when people were practiced.

O&S is so frequently mentioned because they were the first truly difficult boss in what was many peoples' first Soulsborne game. that was the case for me, and as such, I struggled with them more than any boss in the series.

I waxed tf out of Nameless King and beat both Orphan and Maria first try. Others may have played BB or DSIII first and gotten smoked by those bosses, but then played Dark Souls and destroyed O&S

Some of the pre-nerf bosses in WoW. KJ, heroic Rag, twin emps. Although, it’s hard to determine how much of the fail was due to the boss being insane or someone in the raid just derp’ing along.

yeah, if we are counting vanilla wow bosses, Twin Emperors instantly vault to the top for me.

frick them and frick that. and my guild farmed Viscidus (horde , but still)

including MMO bosses becomes a slippery slope. Some world dragons like Kharafym the Sleeper (eq) or the Cuuldurach the Glimmer King, Hibernia World dragon (DAOC) , are tough to appropriately rank.
