Hard case vs soft side luggage

In the last year and a half I have started vacationing outside the US and I have soft side luggage, it has never been damaged but I see a lot of people with the hard case luggage. What are the pro's and con's? Do you use a TSA lock on your luggage, I don't normally have anything worth stealing in my check ons?

While you obviously posted on the wrong board I will give my thoughts
I always go with soft shell since I rarely check my bags and even more rarely go international.
There is a lot more "handling" with international so I am sure hard would hold up better in the long run.
The way I see it soft allows you to pack more but more prone to damage. Hard protects longer, but is restrictive to its shell. Both should allow for expansion, but soft gives a bit more I would think.
In the end I think it's more preference.

Learn to pack and travel in a minimal capacity. I would find the largest soft luggage you can find that you can carry on with that follows TSA, and international regulations. I understand that this is largely dependent on your duration of travels, but I genuinely believe that you would be surprised at how far you can go with so little.
As for me, I use the Minaal carry-on 2.0 backpack. It's not for everyone, but it suits me perfectly. I travelled for 2 weeks in England/Scotland this September out of one bag
EDIT: I suggest the subreddit r/onebag. They have a lot of good suggestions for those who wish to travel minimally.

Do you even travel board?
And yeah the responses have been good, I try to allow room to bring back "stuff" I bought 3 suits, 3 ties, and 5 shirts in Bangkok in March but had to buy another suitcase to get them back and debated the soft vs hard sides then.

if you pack clothes and add more clothes on your trip go this route and never look back.
Briggs
That is the checked luggage tab but the compression technology allows you you expand and fill up a case and when you zip it you just push it down. I just bought a carry on size and it saves my arse from sloppy packing. Their warranty is second to none as well.

Do you rush through travel and security like you rush through games?

Weird man, I was coming to the gaming board but accidentally clicked the travel board. Then when I browse here your thread is at the top
