Lol. These ranking make no sense. Sis ranked for cross platform and got silver 5 despite leading my team in KDA every time, racking up objective points, winning 5 of the last 6, and and having a KA/D ratio between 2 and 8 every time.

Yeah it’s definitely more towards individual performance. My pretty low onyx and I will lose 4 games in a row and rank won’t really move because I had good stats.

It seems to give no fricks on placement matches to not play the objective and just rack up kills. I could have done that but played the stupid arse oddball objective and had a few deaths where I just took the ball off the map to reset it because my dumbass teammates aren’t protecting me.

At least my accuracy is up and I’m getting better with the sniper now. Went 50% almost every match.

I played a ton of fiesta that helped me get a feel for the guns. I’ve climbed from silver 5 to plat 1.

I miss SWAT, was always fun mode and really helped practice headshot aim.

No chance. No radar BR start is the gold standard for competitive Halo going back to Halo 2. AR type starts are for fun type playlist. Any competitive objective game must have BR start or it becomes who gets the BR/Sniper/Rocket first wins. What made Halo CE/2 so successful in the competitive community was the fact that you spawned with a weapon capable of taking out power weapons if used skillfully.

Ranking up with objectives is such a pain in the arse unless you team up with someone. Being F2P, the model has hordes of dumbasses that don’t know how to play strongholds, CTF, or that shitty oddball mode.

Huh? That’s basic map control. There isn’t a lot of 4v4 map control in this game now partly as a result.

Maybe in your silver lobbies but top control is king in the diamond/onyx lobbies I’m in

I feel like this will be dead in a month. Horrible progression system, scummy micro-transactions, no game mode selection, few maps, no new content until June, no forge/co-op

They tweeted out that they gave the dev team a break after MP release until after Thanksgiving. Probably a lot of grinding leading up to that. I expect this week for them to hammer out solutions to the progression, phasing during melee problems. Hopefully there is a major update on 12/8 when the campaign comes out that patches some MP problems and adds more playlist.

Neither of these will really affect if the game survives in the grand scheme.

This will affect the game's survivability, but should realistically be fine with the full launch. I'd be surprised otherwise.

No that's not map control at all. Spawning with a gun that has little to no chance against a BR or power weapon doesn't mean that team has "Map Control" it means they got to the power weapon faster and now this game is over. Map control is getting the oddball to Library and BR on Lockout. Map control is controlling P2 on Midship. Map control is controlling the ports on Warlock during a CTF game. The key component to map control being a balanced thing is the ability for the other team to flip control with well coordinated play. When you spawn with inferior weapons and the other team has control of power weapons and the best positions on the map the game in over. It's boring and dumb even if you are on the winning team that wins 50-2 in a slayer game. I'm in my late 30s. I've played every single Halo game and played them a lot. BR starts no radar are have always been and should remain the gold standard for competitive Halo.

We are talking the same things for different games. Map control in H5 was definitely about getting to the sniper first, or depending on the map, camo, the sword, rockets/hydra.

I’ll give you that that is different, for different, with Infinite. Maybe it’s because I play with idiots, but I’ve noticed no real map control. I do notice the bullshite way oddball is designed in this game to be a nade spamming affair and dipshits that try popping every base in strongholds willynilly without controlling the two easiest defended positions.

But anyway. More to this game. They will neuter any strong player base by locking game modes behind this shitty event nonsense. Fiesta won’t return until Jan or Feb and it’s the only reasonable mode right now if you don’t want to be stuck with 5+ straight oddball/sh/CTF matches.

It’s all but confirmed SWAT will be locked behind an event. It’s all so much bullshite.

I don't mind this in quick play and some type of HCS arena mode. But swat and slayer ranked playlist need to happen. Along with lone wolf and duos. 5 ranked play list:
HCS arena
Slayer
Swat
Lone Wolf
2v2

Then a quick play with AR start with Slayer/ Oddball/ SH/ CTF mixed in. I have no problem with that.

Agreed, need more ranked playlists variety.

Also I have no idea why they got away from 1-50 numbered ranks. It just makes so much sense for Halo.

FFA should be standard in any Halo game. I’ve loved the chaos in H5 associated with it and reduces teammate frustration. It’s also a fun test against higher ranked players. And I loved being a vulture in FFA.

Your recs are reasonable and should be implemented. If 343 wants these dumb events, then design interesting, unique maps for them with fun, map exclusive weapons. Tying events to game modes is just the height of stupidity. I like being able to go into a specific lobby if I’m in a shite play rut and my aim is off that day. You have no way to do that right now.

I just want my low key Slayer option to chill after a long day.

Couple of discoveries last night. I changed my weapon offset settings and my aim, especially finishing aim, got a little better. Biggest difference in performance was changing enemy outline color. Went hot pink. Makes enemies easy as frick so see now and combines with making my team neon green, it makes knowing who’s who so much easier. I can spot a MFer across the entire map now.

And finally got into platinum as well. Did it with cross play too and it’s been easier than controller only lobby.
