I'm just happy to see an attractive woman in a video game marketing image at all. THAT is certainly a plus for Rockstar.

Calling it now… that was the reason for the delay.

Btw, GTA 5 opened preorders on November 5, 2012. At that point, one singular trailer had been released. Official gameplay wasn’t released until July 9, 2013.
Preorders made sense in the golden ages, unless you wanted to stand in line at GameStop for a midnight release. There’s no benefit to preordering now, unless they offer some physical limited edition collectors edition.

I mean that’s not really true. Some games offer in game benefits. Some offer early access or early beta play.

I don't understand pre-ordering in the age of digital downloads

Asking people to buy the game before seeing gameplay is a huge red flag.
You don't have to pre order on day 1. You don't have to pre-order at all and guess what you can still play on day one.

The team that made GTA 5 no longer exists at Rockstar Games, and hasn't for many years now.

Yep. Stupid to pre-order unless there's some "collector's edition" item you really want.

You have no idea if there are any benefits that come with a pre-order so this is a stupid statement by you.

Well sure. If there's some amazing collectible item that comes with pre-ordering, maybe it will be worth it. Digital items or perks are never worth it.

What do you mean by “worth it”? If you are pre-ordering a game that you are going to get no matter what, you aren’t risking anything.

Spoken like someone who has never seen any game not live up to the hype.

Holy shite the GTA fanboys got their panties in a wad in this thread.

Has nothing to do with the hype. I’m going to buy the game not matter what because I’m extremely confident that it will be fun and I will enjoy playing it, whether it lives up to the hype or not. So again, for someone who is going to buy the game no matter what, how do you determine if it’s “worth it” to pre-order?

Spoken like someone who has never purchased a game that didn't live up to the hype. You don't even know if it's going to live up to your own expectations.

But it's Rockstar and they always deliver

Again. The people involved with GTA 5 haven't been with the company for years. We actually don't know if this version of Rockstar will deliver.
It definitely looks good in the images they've shared. We do know that.
ETA: Maybe you guys are right and it will deliver. There's just no way I'm preordering this without seeing gameplay first.
